This is probably a discussion for a separate place but would people find it useful if I kept a closed thread updated with links to all London based fatalities?
NB. I'd love to do it for the whole of the UK but I could never guarantee that I'd manage to find them all as so many of last years only came to light a number of months after the event.
A similar project is ongoing here...

Mapping all cyclist fatalities since 1985, with links to articles where available. -

Such a list - starting in 2006 - already exits: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/pub?key=0AuEtgCUuVBDUdHZqbEZ1NVctVTBVeFRqTmNVbGZnbXc

this is horrible, both the news of Katherine being killed, and that database ^
My sympathies to the friends family and colleagues, this must be a harrowing time -

The "Evening Standard" reports about the inquest, which was held today:
http://www.standard.co.uk/news/london/coming-up-the-near-side-of-lorries-causes-many-deaths-coroners-warning-at-inquest-into-death-of-cyclist-dr-katharine-giles-9036906.htmlApparently, the cyclist rode into the blind spot of the lorry, which was indicating left and also had an audible warning running. No criminal charges against the driver.
Thoughts and prayers.
