  • Yes.

What a day to be born! Congratulations. Never had you down as a raver ;)
    *bit of a schtickism

  • My housemate should be joining me as well on this, but if there's some moisture in the air it's likely that i will come alone :p

  • Going to try and pootle round this route tomorrow morning, if anyone fancies a recce. Plan to get the train from Vauxhall around 8am.

  • Cool, I won't be joining but we'd appreciate a road state report when you're done.

  • Aye aye.

  • Splendid out there today.

    Course report:

Road surface: dry throughout, except one small section around Windy Gap and another on Coldharbour Lane. Could be slightly dicey if frozen, but doesn't look like that will be a problem this week. Massive pile of horseshit, on the descent after the Radnor Road climb, which could be interesting in a group in conjunction with that road surface. Some of the descents gravelly but nothing out of the ordinary.

Road condition: The usual moonscape in places, but only a couple that look like they are a) new and b) a problem. One big pothole on the out leg from Effingham, a few hundred yards after St Theresa's School, on the flat. The other is on the flat after you come down Coldharbour Lane. Perfectly avoidable in daylight but probably advisable to be alert in the dark.

    Badgers: none

May join you on Tuesday, will depend on a couple of things, particularly work. If not, have fun out there.

  • Nice work, cheers.

  • That patch of wet on Abinger Lane shortly before the pub (^^is that the Coldharbour one you're talking about) was in exactly the wrong place today, on the bend at speed. Had to make the decision to stop braking hard at that point and trust my tyres would get me through my wide line around Mr-suddenly wobble into the centre of the road for no reason.

Also did a 37mph mini-endo going down Coldharbour thanks to some cocks on motorbikes riding into our lane as they passed people up hill on a bend. Fun :O

The trashed bit of the Effingham drag ('outbound') seems even worse now, thanks to coming after a section of new tarmac.

  • wondering whether it's possible to include some new tunnels on the deluxe to bath this year http://road.cc/content/news/80337-thousands-flock-two-tunnels-opening-video am looking for a house that's bike/bbq friendly for the big event :)

In other news, indeed I shall be wetting the bed this Tues, as I'm orking in Oxford. Ho hum.

  • confirmed out. basketball commitments.
    for shame.

  • ^^^ that could be the one I mean, though I suspect I would have been more sedate than you. Funnily enough I thought I saw you today, but heading in the opposite direction (Ranmore first, for the purposes of this route).

^^ there's a disused railway line between Cheddar Gorge and a nearby station that has some corkers. Went through them on the way to my stag do. Can't remember the name of the line. Upstart may recall better.

  • Chevron fail.

  • I'm a maybs for this one, dep on work n other bedwetting factors.

  • Is there a GPX file for this pretty please?
