Yeah i got a quote from Jon Rock and it was 300+. Thats a bit out the budget for now.

  • the current paint is awesome. Don't repaint it.

  • Yeah i do like the rattyness. better shot. Dont mind the saddle angle

  • Personally id keep the paint like that, looks cool and wont ever look like that again if you repaint it

  • especially when complete and has all new nice shiny parts, would be a cool look

  • That looks like an absolute beast. Love it.

  • Rat-Klein is sexh. Do not paint.

  • LCEF Peugeot 12-speed town cruiser complete :)

    Langster coming soon...

  • Need a little help if possible. I'm contemplating a black cog for my Pre Cursa build but it has to be a bolt on. This is what I'm thinking.

Option 1. Get a Velosolo 7075 bolt on track cog - Easiest option but I'm worried it won't last long and they don't come with the old for new guarantee that the steel ones do.

Option 2. Get a Velosolo steel cog, get the chrome playing removed and get it black oxide plated or something similar - Probably the best option performance wise but potentially way expensive and would void the guarantee.

Option 3. Get a Velosolo steel cog and get it powder coated (I'm getting a load of other stuff done) - Might have to remove the coating from the edges of the teeth before use and I'm still not sure I wouldn't have problems with the chain sticking. Maybe using a 3/32" cog and 1/8" chain would help. Would also void the guarantee.

Option 4. Get a Velosolo steel cog and just stick some black sticky vinyl on it - Cheapest option and it wouldn't mess with the guarantee but probably get chewed up round the teeth pretty quickly.

Anyone got any thoughts or experience with any of the above?

  • Or just get a silver one and let it get dirty?

why dont you just spray it black?
the only place the paint will be scratched off by chain will still be covered in black oil and lube anyway, there is no other point of contact on the cog is there...

Already have one of those on my Pompetamine but it's not quite the look I'm after for a new project :)

Don't think I'd get the bolts done up without it flaking off.

  • Did a shoot for pooface's bikes today. More soon.

    Racist.

Obviously, the correct answer is to grow up and get the best sprocket (i.e. Phil), not the one that matches your colour prejudice. If you must colour it, you could go for Graphit-iC which is hard wearing, low friction and dark grey. Other options are TiCN and ED black oxide, as seen on spokes. As the Phil sprockets are stainless steel, they don't have any existing coatings to remove before treatment.

  • I don't clean bikes

  • Is that a freewheel?

  • It is.

Cheers tester. Should probably have mentioned before that this is a bit of a budget build.

  • I went for just 'Weigh' in the end but I do refer to the bike as 'our Graham'.

Really not sure what they're thinking with the decals, their new generation is equally fugly.

Lovely bike you've got there though, I saw it on Ebay and wished it was bigger. The downtube is great. The bike might be made by Paul Donahue for Graham Weigh, as mine seems to have been.

I think it is a teensy bit too small, but will have a go with some different saddle/bar positions and see how it goes.

Doesn't feel 'too small' but does feel weird. I'm wondering whether I just need to get used to it. Hopefully it'll be alright!

I am grateful for the decals being so ugly as they kept the price down. I had to use one of the chaps off retrobike who'd offered their services for collecting/posting bikes to get it as the seller wouldn't post. Probably helped the price as well.

Anymore pics of the Nature Boy?

  • I know tight clearences are 'cool', but that looks hella dangerous!
