Take a look at some of us hookers, and its difficult to imagine anyone else doing it for us TBH.
Seriously though. How where those 'delaying the put in' calls, not 'pushing early' call in the other direction. I agreed with the first one. But after that it started to look well harsh.

I was watching the rugby at an Irish pub in Chiswick that had a combination of a rugby party, a pre St Patricks Day party and the after party for the landlords daughters wedding reception. If I'm honest I cannot remember much of the Ireland game, apart from laughing at my Irish mates and telling them they should hire Micheal Bradley (ex Edinburgh coach and Irish) after they sack Kidney, let alone anything after that.

We had a rugby party ending with a mini conversion comp, with shot forfeits.
We have a set of mini posts (20cm wide, and 20cm high). You basically flick a tiny ball with your fingers. I cant do it. So got smashed.

who remembers that match when Ireland played England and those c#nts Guscott and Inverdale waxed lyrical about Twickenham being a fortress.. ireland out run, out played, kept knocking on the door, played patiently and kept their heads.. Keith Wood just sat there afterwards and said very little, it was embarassing coverage by BBC. fricking crap. Italy was the wake up call, they squandered the opportunity to fix things. thank fuck the Welsh have some pride and talent.. England meh..
if i ever meet Guscott, i'm gonna ask him 'so what happened at Murrayfield 17 March 1990, Jeremy??' some of us have long memories..

A former boss knows the England rugby set up well confirms the Guscott diagnosis.
Brian Moore, I am told, is one of the nicest people on the planet and the polar opposite to Guscott. There's a reason both are not in the studio at the same time. -

I used to see Brian Moore in the Sun Inn, Richmond late 80s. Along with Will Carling and a few others. A popular pub for Harlequins players. It was our local.
Forgot to mention Micky Skinner, hardest tackler in the business.

I think Brian Moore owns the Sun Inn? Certainly one of the England players from that era

Ewen McKenzie, the coach who had turned the Queensland Reds around and guided them to the 2011 Super 15 title and the semis last year has announced that he is leaving at the end of the super rugby season. He has long made no secret of the fact that he wants to make the move to international coaching, there is a vacant position at the SRU, possibly France and Ireland as well, could he be coming north?

All packed and ready to travel to Oslo for the weekends 7s fun. Still have a slight cold though. Really struggled to get myself sprinting at training last night. But felt good and strong hitting the pad. So for my game, I'm in decent shape.
Funny thing is. Put me in front of an opposition front row of gorrillas, and the prospect makes me grin. Put me on a full pitch with only 6 team mates, and all that space, and I do a little poo.
Really need experiance, and a cool head, to compensate for old legs this weekend.
Looking forward to it :)

Bobbo, if I could I would rep you for the SH/NH thing ^up there. I was about to wade into this, then though better of it incase of being accused of being a snarkey foreigner. I agree with a bit of what you're sayin' , but we don't what to get it to much like league Remember, every point of contact should be contestable.
Guscott, yes

Guscott, yes
Best man on tour -Keith WoodThere are two options though:
Make the point of contact contestable and keep the hit, in which case we will continue to have what we do now with numerous re-sets (up north at least) etc. the problem with the hit is that it happens too quickly to referee effectively. The ref is therefore reliant on the front rows to do the right thing, lets face it most front row players world wide see the rule book more as a set of guidelines and will do whatever they can to get one up on their opposite man. This is not a very effective way to enforce the rules, as much as I praise the style of rugby in the SH if NH teams regularly start to gain an advantage through bending the rules at the hit I do not think it will be long before they follow suit.
However if you make the engage soft the scrum can still be contested very effectively, if the oppo hooker wins the ball your team can still drive them off the it and a good hooker becomes even more of a lynchpin in the team he plays for as it becomes MUCH easier to win the ball against the head.

Lions squad today. I can't see Robshaw going.

Wilkinson?? I know he's tied to Toulon but.... ???
-
• #2045
I would take him....over Farrell I don't know. Have read that the 3'rd number 10 in the squad may be a cover player so Farrell covering 12/10 may fly.
