  • Not good enough. Good captain for England but too generic as a back row forward.

  • Text from Gatland to Ashton

  • Think he is unlucky to be playing in a position where Wales have great strenth

  • I'll be the straight talking manager and you be the comforting coach.....

  • ha!

Think Rory Best is more unlucky - not convinced by Youngs

  • And two fly halfs (halves?!) risky risky risky

  • I'm betting JW gets a call out when Top 14 season is finished. Bound to be injuries somewhere.

Wondrer if Wilko is on standby

  • ^ beat me to it.

  • That only works if someone gets crocked (obviously likely over a 7 week tour).

Assume Sexton will be starting 10 - not sure Farrell is a true game changer to bring on from the bench if we are 4 points down with 2 minutes on the clock (not that Wilko is either)

  • I dunno.. Farrell is better in the tackle zone..

  • True - guess we will see, should be a good close tour either way - slightly worried by the Aussie forwards and the fact they have dominated the Welsh in recent years

  • Farrall to start and manage the game/tackel until the Lions forwards get on top and form a good platform then Sexton to come on and blow them away.

  • Whos the best player not going then? Wilkinson, Best, AN Other?

  • Hartley, Stevens, no Best, a captain who shouldn't be near the matchday squad and only 2 fly halves?

    There are not enough chevrons.

  • o'driscoll and tuilagii in the centre is mouth watering..

  • Stevens is an odd one.

  • Hartley over Best????!!!!!!

    unsubscribes

  • Unsurprised that Robshaw wasn't selected. he is a bit of a Phil De Glanville figure. Selected as a captain but is distinctly average as a player at international level.

Tom Wood can feel a bit hard done by but equally both Northampton and England have played him out of position.

Fly half is an interesting one for the lack of depth - The Scottish fly halves are all mediocre and the welsh ones this year not much better. surprised that Alex Goode didn't make it as utility cover, he could pick up fly haf, 12 and 15.

  • Missed out on the Wales Invitational Touring Squad (Lions) chat! Should be a good tour that the Lions should comfortably win. I'm a touch disappointed with only 3 Scots but on the other hand this gives us a great platform to build from at the quadrangular tournament in South Africa, and a new mystery coach coming in at the end of this month.

    Did anyone see this:

Bosh of the season. Methinks that given how far Wilkinson was knocked into next week in that hit he would now be unavailable for Lions if he had accepted.

  • I like the way that even before the whistle is blown the oppo 12 is over to help him. don't see that in professional ruby much.

That was the first thing I noticed too, great to see.

JW was either very brave going for the man & ball tackle hoping he would get some support to slow the play down. Or he had a complete brain fart and thought he could out muscle him.

  • I think, all through his career, he has just tried to smash anything coming down his channel, often unadvisedly. Always makes me think he just enjoys it.

  • You do get some 10's like that, even at my level. When it pays off people (usually the 10) talk about it for a good while.
