you'd think so but at this time of year in Ireland it's quite handy.
two layers of black cloth tape?
i don't think i'd like cloth, i've never tried it but i don't think i'd like the fibrous feeling of fabric.

your front wheel is too small.

It's not bad, infact it's very good, especially if you're wearing gloves. anyway you asked for thin, and it's only £2 a roll for Velox, so you could always try it out.
Other options for thin tape that isn't cork that come to mind: Benotto, Brooks?, BBB, Bont racetape and possibly the 1.8mm Lizard Skins DSP?

The Roberts is shaping up nicely. Picked up some wheels from 1000AA today which means I just need to decide on a chain, get a 17t cog and wait for an SLR to arrive in the post and then we're good!
May trim the cloth tape back a bit, gonna wait until I ride it first though.
Also need a 23c tyre for the front as the 25 that's in there now stops the wheel from spinning. Nice and tight on the rear though!

Swapped the bearings out in the Bob Jackson's Zenith rear hub (following Vince's excellent guide). I'd had some play in the wheel for a while - I thought it might have been a result of being overtightened with a less-than-round chainring but turns out it was this:
I remember getting some kind of fibres (nylon string or something) wrapped round the axle and having to pick the threads out from between the cones etc. - seems some of it worked its way into the drive-side bearing and caused accelerated wear. The NDS one was still ok (not bad considering I've been commuting in all weathers on that wheel for nearly three years).
Anyway, a nice pair of new stainless cartridge bearings in there now, much cheaper than a new hub.

cloth is ok but gets very messy unless you put shellac on it, which makes it go all shiny and changes the colour ^^^ and there's no padding. other than that, leather looks nice but i don't like it when it's wet.

Nice Roberts, simply add red and green bands for a rasta sled?

Put this together with some parts I had lying around and some parts from an insane sale at my local bike shop. Need a new rear wheel and less snow.

Will do. The frame is a bit small, but got it so cheap I couldn't resist making a build out of it. Had to compensate with some spacers!

Lizardskins dsp would be my recommendation for tape, if you don't want cloth.
Feels great riding without gloves. -
