• Awesome link eightball, thanks, listening at the moment.
And you followed me! I feel so special! hahaha
Was it an auto return follow or did you actually listen to the limited selection of dodgy music? hahaha

Wanted to ask about the dark time, you still have it right? Have you used it in logic? Have you used it through a computer? If you have how did you find it? Does it work?

I'm not sure what I want to get first! I'm undecided between getting an Akai MPK25, the modular version of the dark energy, or the dark time... at the moment I'm using a mouse and a keyboard (not the musical type). I have interfaces, and some guitar pedals... but that's it.

I wanna go modular/physical because plugins/mice suck... and I like knobs... ssshhhh, don't tell anyone.

• Hey! I won't lie - I always follow people back and eventually get round to listening! I promise! I always comment on people's tunes

I do have the Dark Time and the Dark Energy - to be honest, I use the Dark Time to sequence the DE, but not much else - I have used the DE via USB MIDI and inserted as a device in Ableton Live and recorded audio in - I've also sent MIDI data from Live to the DE - a lot of fun!

Have you tried muff wigglers forum? More info on setups and modular gear there than you can shake a capacitor at!

Cheers

• Hahaha don't worry, there's nothing really on there, just a bit of noise... but thanks anyway.

Ahhh, sounds like so much fun. That set up from take it away clarence looks like so much fun.

Hahaha yeah, I found it yesterday/today, just starting to have a look.

Cheers

• pretty incredible really - (credible artist) album produced exclusively on iPhone app Nanostudio

• just getting back into production, anyone got any comments on this?
https://soundcloud.com/benjaminscott/3-1

• yeah quite liked that, like the rapid hi hats that make it back in time, and the sort of offbeat snare - and a little reverb on it in places - nice

• So I'm up and running on garageband. All working well and seems super easy to navigate and process real audio. Verrr happy. Have grasped the basics of editting for the purposes of tidying up spurious noises and adding volume automation etc.

However as the first track i've recorded is led by a guitar take that was done in free time without a click, I'm pretty limited as to what I can do in terms of adding a regular (looped) drum track.

So my plan is to re-record the whole thing to a click/metronome/whatever then record short snippets of real drums (either a bar or a single hit) then loop these and build up into a regular (and therefore editable) drum track using real audio.

Is that easily doable in garageband?

• yeah well doable - you'll get into it really quickly and you can get some really good results

I did this in iPad version of GB then overdubs in full GB in about an hour - it's pretty messy but has a vibe

• If anyone's interested... I dabble a bit - at the moment I'm mostly doing videogame music & sound effects for a friend. E.g.:

https://soundcloud.com/furoshiki/fcg_ost_mix

Made almost entirely in Logic Express with a couple of samples and the World Music Apple instrument pack (it needed a lot of koto).

Currently working on the soundtrack for their next game.

• followed - will have a listen later at home - cheers

• Followed back. It's quite... videogamey. ;)

I'm trying to inject a bit of a bass/rave/club vibe into the new one, although it's still a pretty upbeat pixel art game so it can't be too heavy or sparse.

• also worth a watch

• anyone on Live 9 yet?

I've added my 'Music' folder from my Mac as one of the user directories available

Opening Live 9 up seems to take a while compared to Live 8

Is that because it is indexing my Music directory?

It was to ease the 'pain' (first world) of browsing my Mac when I'm looking to drop in a tune to sample/loop/cut up etc

cheers

• Im thinking of dropping on a Maschine, but pondering whether its worth splashing the extra to get it bundled with Komplete8/9. it seems like it comes with a fair whack straight out the box anyway and while I can kind of afford it, the Boyfriend might actually kill me if he finds out I spunked so much money when im about to be unemployed....

Thoughts?
