"The Philippines must be half empty - you're all here running the NHS"
If most people said that it wouldn't sound wrong at all.
Ironic casual racism?
To be fair, he is one a handful of royals that I can tolerate. The guy doesn't give a shit about the media or what people think of him and his happy to express his own personality, okay so he makes some deeply inappropriate remarks, who cares he is attempting to be funny little more.
No. He is a stupid racist prick and a privileged at our expense one at that.
The only thing I can say in his defence (and that of all royals) is it is not his fault that we are so backward in this country that we have not killed the fucking lot of them, or at least taken all their money and declared a republic.
Neither is it his fault that we are so backward that we give them one iota of attention. AFAIAC they should not be mentioned unless it is as part of a clear policy of trying to get rid of them.
To be fair to him, the Philippines have had a heavily promoted nursing program that has a qualification equivalent of the one in the UK so that they can study at home then move over here to earn more money to send back home. So there are a lot of nurses from the Philippines here.

Might make more sense to spend the defence budget on aid, in a way- one Afghan fighter is paid ~$100/year to fight for the Taliban.
Now you can spend $50,000 on a missile to kill him, or, I submit, spend $1,000 on employing him, which has the added benefit of not killing him and pissing off his family.
This kind of logic is so hard to get across to people. Much like the argument that closing the socioeconomic gap by looking after those less able in society will drive down crime therefore making a safer society is met with "Why should I pay for scroungers you commie git".

According to Adam Hills, the reason Prince Phillip gets into so much trouble is that he spends most of the time two steps behind the queen ad-libbing with someone who's still in awe at having met the queen. If the queen talks for a bit too long to the person after you, you get a bit more Phil-time...

You don't eat the animal, only its corpse. You've wasted the animal the moment you've killed it.
Animals are alive. The moment it's dead, it's no longer an animal.
You keep saying this, but by the same logic you don't eat vegetables, just vegetable corpses, because they cease to be vegetables as soon as you kill them.
You are, of course, talking bollocks. Dead animals are still animals.

And in the news, fuck me, this gets worse:

Er, no. Plants are alive but not, in a philosophical sense, living. When an animal dies, it continues to live through the same micro-processes that plants do, but no-one would say it is still living.
The substance of an animal is its life. Beyond that it is mere material.

Plants are living organisms, with some level of sentient capacity, fulfilling all the criteria necessary to call them alive, such as respiration, movement, and crying out in pain when they are injured.
Until you chop them to bits and cook them, of course.Philosophically, animals are only alive if you don't put them in a box with a radioactive isotope. If you do that who knows what state they are in?

But you wouldn't say that a dead plant is still living either.
The substance of an animal is its life.
What does that actually mean?
Not me.
or is it?
