  • That's good to hear I was thinking of getting one instead of the Mafac on my town bike.

    On the subject of barrel adjusters this is probably a good thread on which to ask; is there a barrel adjuster that will work with a Mafac front hanger or is there an available hanger with an adjuster. Needs to be chromed steel plate though not chunky ally -its for a classic build.

  • I have broken two that felt spongy at first on two different bicycle, possibly my experience is an isolated one.

    I'm quite pleased with my Shimano A520 pedals that I can now comfortably order the Ultegra level Shimano A600 which is only 10g heavier than the top end Dura Ace road pedals (286g for the pair);

    Slight gunmetal colour should keep in theme with the frame and crankset.

    This one?

    I just got one for my build...It's really thin and wouldn't look like it would take anything threaded so can't imagine there is an adjuster - It's haerd enough to find a barrel that will sit in it securely

  • I got one of these for spare since I got barrel adjuster on my brake levers;

  • ^ ha. You just reminded me I've got one of those Dia Compe hangers in a parts box somewhere must go and rummage.
    ^^ that's pretty much what I have - came with the Mafac brakes I have. Did you find a ferrule that fits in the little slot/hole?
    I might get an old barrel adjuster and see if I can grind it down and enlarge the hole to get it to work.

  • I'm unsing nokin cables, that have a bulge and a slot oat one end that, with a tiny amount of drilling, fits and holds in the slot (I'm covering the cabling in heat shrink so less fussed about the modern look of them)

    There was a guy from Israel on ebay selling the proper end ferrules for the Mafac, though I didn't get one (and can't find them now)

  • Ah that Israeli guy. I got some Mafac braze on mounts from him a few years ago when he was prototyping them I used to be on the same bike nerd forum as him.
    Amir something or other. I'll check it out cheers.

  • I was thinking of using a brake noodle but still no adjustability. I'll try and find the dia Compe hanger -bit ugly though.

  • Do you have aero or non-aero brake levers?

  • Neither.

    Mafac inverse.

  • In that case, why not put one of those on?

  • Where would that fit?
    Levers look like this;

    Cables run inside the bars until the bend where they come out of a drilled hole.

  • Didn't realise they were in-line jobs- they might be a really good solution. Thanks. If they're on a curved section of cable will they give the cable a bend rather than curve?
    SJS also have a noodle with adjuster and a cable hanger (looks shit though)

  • Ryan just made up the skinnier decals and ready to send the frame to Ricky Father's painter, gonna leave a dent in my wallet, will start selling frame.

  • Looking forward to seeing this

  • does that mean your dream machine is for sale :P?

  • My low pro frame, 1930 road frame, Dolan Precursa, and unfortunately the Bob Griffin will be.

    I know it'll be worth it in the long term, I'm keeping the Lotus Excelle as the geometry is great despite being a mass produced American/Japanese bicycle.

  • low pro?

  • ed's got a low//, you didnt know?

  • On a side note, really didn't think this would be a thread you'd follow Marcin? ;)

    Is there a randonneur in you yet?

  • low pro?

    To be specific, a time trial bike with vertical dropout.

    Only sort of drop-out that exists, I thought pedant scoble would be up on his terminology....

  • SHELDON SAYS NO

    ha, I like detailed frame work :)

    at this stage, the most radonneur setup I go for is the sainsbury bag hanging off my risers
