  • That one ain't as scary cool.^^

  • Yeah, so you can claim the VAT, but only if the expense is not "sole purpose of the business entertainment is to entertain a non-employee". That is to say, if you take clients out you can claim.

Anyway, I was not referring to reclaiming VAT, but as to whether or not the expense is allowed to be included as a business cost before the payment of corporation tax. That is, it is an allowable cost.

  • i thought the big flash was it vapourising into nothingness but noise and light energy
the trail just seems to stop in most of the video's

it was only small one after all

  • Client entertaining is not an allowable expense for corporation tax.

The last bit contractors can do as well. It's the claiming it off VAT or whatever where I'm pretty sure it's not possible to do.

Whatever, I for one welcome our new alien overlords!

  • Well I might be wrong, but we are a big outfit, and I thought this is why we always have to list the people who attend a meal or other "expense". If the clients outnumber the people from our place, then it is allowable (roughly speaking). If I decide to conduct an internal meeting over a couple of beers (rare these days) then it is not allowed - in terms of VAT and/or corp tax. I asked just now, and they said indeed that's right.

  • You can reclaim it from the company as an expense yes. But the company cannot claim customer entertaining as a business expense in the corporation tax computation.

  • Staff entertaining is allowable as a tax expense - so an internal meeting over a couple of beers is OK for tax purposes - but maybe not reclaimable from the company.

  • Well I might be wrong, but we are a big outfit
    Hippy wears big outfits.

  • Yeah, yeah, I wasn;'t talking about what I can claim back. And I am checking now for myself, and you are right. I am going to go give the accountant* a slap.

    • Not an accountant, actually just works in finance.

not 100% about the one I psted, I don't speak russian, but guardian website seems to suggest craters are at least a possibility:

A meteor or meteors entered the atmosphere over the Russian city of Chelyabinsk early Friday and exploded in the sky, generating a shock wave that injured an estimated 950 people and damaged buildings. Itar-Nass news agency also reported damage in the nearby town of Cherbakul, where the military said a 20ft (6m) wide crater was found. Chelyabinsk is a city of about 1.1m people situated about 1,100 miles east of Moscow.

  • Does anyone have a picture of this hippy fella? I do hear a lot of talk of his great size.

  • The Russian Academy of Sciences estimates that the meteor weighed about 10 tonnes and entered the Earth's atmosphere at a speed of at least 54,000 km/h (33,000mph).
