Don't know much about camera bags but that sounds like rucksack weight to me

Chrome just released a few camera bags. Look pretty neat -
http://www.chromebagsstore.com/bags/camera.html
I'm sure there's plenty of cheaper and probably more functional bags, even lowepro, but I've got my eyes on larger Niko camera pack :)

had a look at those chrome ones but they seem really small? might have to leave the 70-210 and get something smaller

Has anybody got any experience of the Ricoh GXR (28/50) or Ricoh GRD IV? I primarily like to skulk around taking discreet pictures and not sure whether to go for better IQ with the larger body GXR or stealth with GRD...
Bump. Thinking about getting a GRD myself. Anyone got any info? Getting bored and tired of taking my 5d everywhere

Can anyone recommend a decent camera bag? I need it big enough to fit in a 5d with 24-105, small old 70-210mm, 50mm and straps on the outside/bottom to attach a small tripod, and has to be a shoulder bag... Am I asking too much? Literally all the camera shops have now closed in my town so I cant even go look at some.
I bought this one, and I'm more than happy with it.
You'd have to think of something for your tripod yourself though.
Domke is horribly expensive (I got mine on the bay "as new" for 3/4 of the list price),
but quality, look, and feel is awesome. They are a joy to work with, and last a lifetime. -

thanks for the advice, something like http://products.lowepro.com/product/Pro-Messenger-200-AW,2286,20.htm looks pretty good but at £150+ its a bit expensive

Lots of online chatter about it.
People mainly bitch about the small sensor, and rave about the ergonomics.
I had the chance to pick one up and swing it round the shop the other day (small miracle to find a place that sells Ricoh here). Quite diminutive.
I'm seriously considering one, but most places seem to have retained the same price from when they were released 1.5 years ago! -

York Cameras on Bury Place always have some Ricoh cameras in the window, often a GRD 3, GXR combo and the zoomy GRD one.
I love my GRD. I think it's my favourite ever camera, but the small sensor began to play on my mind; I was very happy with the results on screen but I began to worry about how the resolution would affect printing. I have a GRD3 in great nick that I would sell for £230. I think York Cameras always stick to around £269.

First time skiing and you took a d300 out? brave man! I fell on my d3200 the other day and broke my collarbone in the process, would not have wanted a d300 in my bag!

Actually that's the nicest bag by LOWE I've seen so far.
I'm a fan of their outdoor / hiking products, just never liked their camera bags.
Search for used ones I guess? This kind of gear is expensive, as is all pro photo equipment... -

Was going to recommend you a bag, but looking at it now, it's as expensive as that, was £30 when I got it. Also its a bit smaller so that might not suit either.

Domke !
I have an F6 which I have had for years - really nice bags. Maybe an F2 would suit your requirements: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Domke-F-2-Camera-Bag-with-Post-Office-Shoulder-Pad-/181073626292?pt=UK_Camera_Cases_Bags_Covers&hash=item2a28d444b4 -

I used a very similar domke bag about five times, it's really nice,
though for just one DSLR and 1-2 additional optics it's a bit big really.
And I don't like snap hooks; prefer velcro. -

Beware of that style of camera bag. Single straps like that will fuck your shoulders and back up. Look for the rucksack style.
Or find a bag you really like and just buy the padded inserts from calumet and make your own, it's bloody easy.

This very much.

"That style of camera bag" is like the only one that makes sense when you work as a photojournalist,
or do photography in a way that requires quick access to other bodies / lenses.
By the time you take off your rucksack, put it to the ground, open zippers etc. etc. shots will be gone.Of course if I were to hike up a mountain or something I'd just throw the thing in my backpack, wrapped in a sweatshirt or what.

I have a system that strap on the strap of my rucksack that's design as a quick release to hook the camera on, work brilliantly, let me find it.
-
• #3198
Found it, I use it with my 5D, held it weight pretty well, but much prefer it on the smaller Fuji X100;

As a photojournalist, I'm going to have to disagree with you.
