  • being in the Lakes enough to get ready for that isnt a likely proposition for me,
even though the achievement of doing it would outweigh any 6 day event or related stuff Ive ever done,
and talking about it online then never doing it isnt an option,
    and for that reason,
    Im out.

  • I'm also interested in Edinburgh and Man Vs Horse, but I won't be entering either till I see how I go at the TP. Also thinking of IMwales in September if I can afford it so it sound's like we're on similar schedules :-).

Good man. I think Edinburgh may only have half spots open as the full went quite quickly. Man vs Horse is wide open so get in there (going to be hilarious running against animals!) and Ironman.. get it signed up for and let's kick ass.

I'm 30 in March and this is my 'bucket year'. I pretty much lost a full year last year to work so this is payback for that. I'm psyched for 2013 :)

p.s keen for a group recce. I'm up in North Yorkshire so I'm aiming to get down there through May and June for a feel of routes and temperatures etc. Love the planning aspect!

  • Talking of temperatures, have realised this week that I've been massively overheating in a jacket in all my runs recently and that I'm fitter than I though!

Getting a little nervous about London as its about 11 weeks away, and have only done one long run in january but hopefully this weekend will be the start of a good february!

  • Third 10k in thre days, 46 minutes dead.

    Pretty pleased!

Gentle 8k tomorrow morning then 30 on Saturday!

  • it is encouraging this thread, people are into it, and when the spring comes we will be ready! gonna do a weekend 25 er sat a.m, then night o race sat, then sunday bog trot in new forest. keepin it smooth and focused.

  • I did 10k before cycling about 12k into work today. My legs felt completely devestated on the ride in, despite a brief sit down and breakfast inbetween. Need to HTFU.

  • Third 10k in thre days, 46 minutes dead

    YES! Good times

  • Ran on a treadmill this morning for the first time in years. Never again.

  • Gentle 8.5k turned into a sprint as the decorator faffed before getting started, 35.5 minutes.

You know you've run hard when you throw up on the way to work!

Rep. It's a long time since I actually vomited from training...

All you can eat indian veg buffet (delicious, fucking delicious) for a late lunch, then 16 x 400m in the evening. This definitely works....

  • I've got a 10 mile race on sunday. It's hilly. I haven't run over 10 miles since a half marathon back in November, which was flat.

    Should be interesting!

    Made your own tailwind

  • I'm struggling with motivation at the moment, work is really taking it out of me.
Anyway. Tmw is a new week so I'm going to get on it.
Marathon is looming ever closer, as is clinical phase 1 with its random days of work and night shifts....

  • An hour of hill reps in the sun at the beach consisted of pleasure and pain in equal measure.

Then a *very *slow 10k, seeing as it was sunny...

  • good dad^^
you know me missed 5k boscombe last night....?

  • Fuck, totally forgot!

  • 31k done nice and slowly after 5 days of running on the trot.

Gentle 5k tomorrow to justify dinner at a restaurant then a really hard week next week in prep for an easy week before dorney half in 2 weeks.

Not sure I'm in shape to run sub1.30 but we'll see.

Weight seems to be ticking down ok as well, should be comfortably in the low 70s for the marathon.

  • just did 12 miles with a cold and a hangover. bleeargh.

  • Did it cure either?

I'd not been feeling too enthusiastic about tomorrow's Regent's Park 10k, but after a decent-ish 5k on Friday night (makes a change from the pub) and a good hour's ride around Regent's this morning (makes a change from the hangover) I'm sort of looking forward to it. Forecast looks a lot better than it did a couple of days ago at least.

Pretty confident my 44:09 of two months ago won't be in any danger, but hopefully it'll freshen the legs up a bit.

  • Sort of. Now I feel like my whole body's been run over, rather than just my head.

    Have fun tomorrow.

  • Right, I have 16 weeks until the Edinburgh Marathon. Anybody recommend a link to a decent training schedule? I did a half marathon in 1 hour 28 mins a couple of years ago, so I've been advised to aim for a time between 3 hrs 30 mins and 4 hours.

  • Amygdala I'm running the Edinburgh too. Holla at me closer to the time, but we've got a big crew running in memory of a colleague, feel free to tag along on the day if you want to (I'm going into beast mode on the day)

  • Ugh. 10k took 46:38, a whole two and half minutes slower than I ran two months ago. I feel deflated and defeated.

Quads were giving me grief today which is something I've not noticed before, usually it's the calves I feel it in. Might have to break out the roller.

  • Hell yeah, finally...
1:35 training pace half, felt v.comfortable, which was a nice change.
    Correct mindset is back.

Brun- keep it up, its just a minor set back- and 2 months is a long time.
