Rapha, nice but a bit pricey?

From memory the 2012 online sale started in early January and ran through to about the 20th. The sample sale was the final weekend of the month.

I think a quarter off the soft shell is a bigger discount than is normally found on thus item unless you manage to get v lucky at the sample sale.

When I bough my cx bibs they came in around £75. Although I was a bit strapped for cash, that was a "no-brainer purchase". I guess I'm just wondering whether its the same for the soft shell. It's a good discount, but it's still almost £200.

Softshell jackets rarely turned up in the sample sales, plus it is very unlikely that there will be a sample sale in London this year.

After borrowing my dad's Hardshell jacket since my Softshell was in the wash, I can now see the appeal of it during yesterday deluge and still came out completely dry.

Last year's sale started on the 26th of December. I looked back at emails to find the date.

I've been looking at Rapha winter stuff with longing eyes for a while. Still not sure whether to get the Softshell, or hope the L/S Jersey is in the January sale, wear it under my rain jacket for now and then have something i can use in spring as well (more bang for buck?)

I think you will find plenty of use for it as you won't need to wear a lots of layers, just plop in the jacket and ride away instead of fiddling with arms warmers, jersey, base layer etc. (I find the Softshell + base layer to be warm enough after 10 minutes of riding).

do you find shitting in your clothes brings them up to body temperature faster?

You can always huddle together and plop one out to be even warmer.

Softshell is lovely... Base layer and that, and I'm good for most things. Too hot, unzip the pit vents or the main zip a bit... Wind proof front saves you having to put a paper down there!

... a good pal of mine gave me a £25 online voucher, only gotta save up another 5 months before I can buy anything worth while. Burns me up thinking about the whole sale price - these guys must make 70-80% profite on some of there stuff. Had to laugh today when I got an email from Rapha sales, Classic Softshell on offer! 25% off! Oh wait... RRP is £240

haha decent justification needed as i often ride in just jersey and base layer and find that to suffice, obviously losing money if i didnt take advantage of the 25% off deal
