Just got some Jura superstition as I'm too broken for polo, so will spend the money I've saved on booze, on booze.

Went to Zurich and a mate was big into ARDBEG Uigeadail. By the time we actually got to try it, i cant remember.
We also happen to arrive the same time the Whiskey ships arrived. Damn there was some fine whiskey! But i am never drinking whiskey called Whiskey Mountain or Whiskey Hill or some such bollox again... yuck

Bought a bottle of Aberlour A'bunadh on a whim because it was £10 off, turns out it is brilliant (love the cask strength 60% that you have to water down, feels like you're getting the real deal).
Then was getting through it a bit quickly so picked up a bottle of Balvenie Doublewood 12 to make it last, but that’s turned out be particularly moreish as well.
Was lucky to get an invite to the soho whisky club last night too to try some of Bowmore’s range, so thinking something a bit more peaty might be on the xmas list.

That superstion is going down quite nicely, wasn't mega keen on the first glass but 2/3 of a bottle in 2 evenings means something must be right.

Yeah Superstition is an unusual grower

I bought that cheap as well. It's a decent enough whisky, but I'm not sure I'd buy it again and certainly not at full price.
Can't quite put my finger on what I don't like, but there's something missing in the palate.
Yes!

I agree.
How is Japanese whiskey? I'm keen to try some.

I've liked everything Japanese I've had, it all seems very clean, but has some lovely flavours, the yamazaki 18 is beautiful.

If anyone is going through Gatwich for any reason (even domestic flights), the airshop or whatever it's called has Aberfeldy 12 Year 1L for about £33. Outstanding stuff and retails for over £40 usually. In fact, it may be any airport with the same chain of shop as I got one in Gatwick on the way to NI for me da and one in Belfast City Airport on the way back for me.

There was a guy doing samples of the 12 year old at Waitrose Canary Wharf this afternoon. Even though I'd just popped out from work I did have to stop for a quick chat and a wee sample (or two)... v nice if a little pricey at £35 or so.
Don't think they have yamazaki in stansted, but then i was in a rush last night, nearly missed the half eleven flight to istanbul! S.gokcen has a truly terrible selection, unless you're making whisky macs :-(
