  • just be grateful you aren't doing it on saturday

  • yeah true enough

  • although Saturday is forecast to be benign in Sconny Botland

  • I was envious of a lady cyclist's tights this evening. Brrrr.

  • Happy first day of winter everyone. Lets hope it's a snowy one.

  • nice dusting of snow in north London

  • flakes on bond street in between the rain drops
but not sticking ... will get heavier this morning according to forecasts

  • Snow can fuck off...

  • Before you lot get all full of self pity. At was -10C on my way to work this morning. I swear the snot deep inside my nose is still frozen.

  • But at least you were expecting it. When I left home this morning there was a ground frost but the roads were dry so I took it easy along the dark country lanes in case there was ice and noting to myself that it was time to dig out the winter gloves. A couple of miles on and it started spitting with rain and I resigned myself to the possibility of falling off.

Five miles into my twenty mile commute and it's snowing hard enough to lay on the roads. I'm wearing shorts and my mudguards are still in the box at home. F.U. London.

    tl;dr HTFU

  • Clear skies, clear roads, and crisp dry air.

    TBH its fecking lovely.

  • ^^ Unprepared of London. Where did it snow? Only a long trail of petrol all the way from Stoke Newington to Agar Grove.

  • It was fine yesterday when I was running the (mudguarded) shopping bike. And yeah I'll admit that I couldn't be bothered to stop to put my overshoes and jacket on wanted to look hard.

Snowed out West across the M25 around Addlestone and Chertsey. Had become rain by the time I got to Twickenham.

  • hmmm. cancelling plans to go west then. The cat stayed under / in the duvet today when i rolled it back, its cold on the boat. (warmer now with fire)

  • Slippery rails .... FGS its a teeny sprinking of snow for all of 5 mins, sleet for 10 mins, and then it stopped. Got to Feltham station at 07:07 for the 07:11 train, 07:05 was in the platform still, not that unusual.

It was still there at 07:25 after lots of puffing and spitting. Doors locked so we are all still standing there. Was packed though so whatever.

07:11 comes in and leaves at 07:30. Gets as far as Brentford and guard says train is running fast to Waterloo, there is another train behind if you want anything in between. I stay on as that works for me. Half the train gets off.

We creep onwards, stop at Barnes, but don't open the doors as we aren't supposed to stop there (today). Held on signal for so long that guard relents and lets people on. Tells them not stopping till Waterloo. Half of them get back off again.

Eventually leave, pick up a decent bit of speed. Stop in between Wandsworth Town and Clapham Junction. Engine goes off, lights and heating go off. Sit there in the dark for 5 minutes. No announcement. Lights on, engine on, off we go. Finally get to Waterloo 1 hour and 20 minutes after we left. A 35 minute journey.

    Coffee at Waterloo most welcome.

  • wrong kind of non snow

  • Good covering of snow on the top of Mount Streatham. Big fat flakes falling as we got up.

5 mins down the hill and it's just grey drizzle. Boooo!

  • Blizzarding the whole way to Greenwich this morning, go through foot tunnel and come out into a nice mild day.

Beginning to rethink my belief that the UK is too warm to ever wear gloves.

  • north of the river so much nicer

  • It's lovely down in Brixton...

  • all i had was fecking rain at 0600 this morning.

    bring me snow.

  • ^^ Unprepared of London. Where did it snow? Only a long trail of petrol all the way from Stoke Newington to Agar Grove.

Yep, that was my experience, oddly including the long trail of petrol. I think it's something they put in the grit to stop it congealing. The gritter lorries were out last night when I was going home, which is why I now know not to get too close behind them when following.

  • HTFU - drafting gritter lorries is for the win, if you can see their mirrors you are too far back.

  • saves on the sandblasting costs

  • Wrong sort of salt, tastes shit on chips.
