Work better than mini-v?

Sure modulation is nicer on caliper, but mini-v have the ulimate stopping power shy of disc.

as we are discussing CX I am assuming they will be used off road. Not sure if you have ridden off road before but once tyre grip is overcome the rest of the stopping power is moot.
Modulation is key off road with a 30c tyre and as you have said yourself, modulation is better with caliper...

what is CX when it is not racing? To me it is riding off road on trails that don't require an MTB and are faster on a road style bike with drops (i.e. the whole area where I live!)
Track bike with bigger tyres does the job just as well as a CX specific bike with bigger tyres.
