Going back to calipers vs. canti's on CX bikes...
On another forum I frequent, someone on there has used old centre pull brakes on their road to CX conversion. Some can mount to regular brake holes, but provide more clearance that regular calipers. Could be an option on something like a Steamroller or old road frame built for 27" wheels that you don't want to braze canti posts on.

They can also be quite powerful, I order a braze-on set that'll not only clear a 42c tyres but a steel mudguard as well.
You can also get Dura Ace centerpull too.

but as we know, power is not what is needed using a 32mm ish tyre off road...
The advantage of cantis is not only good clearance around tyre but also being able to get a good distance between pad and rim yet still work. But if not riding in mud nether of those thing particularly matter.
