Bikeshd.co.uk collates images of current London bikes for sale on eBay and Gumtree. Worth watching that too.

Oh fuck, Ian! :(
Hope she turns up soon... x -

From the MEN comments:
1) get wire bike lock
2) wrap around saddle so it's always available
3) lock bike to immovable object or just lock it around the wheel so it cannot be ridden away, if away from bike for a few minutesSimple

Somehow it always seems worse when such a gorgeous bike gets stolen. Superficial, I know--every bike that's loved is a bad loss. Really hope you find it again, Ian!
-
• #9661
Thanks for the endless support everyone... the two culprits were kids of about 14yrs or so with some unbelievable front... If the police view the CCTV soon, then may be some hope otherwise it's a lost cause unfortunately....
-
• #9662
what do you mean if the police view the cctv soon? hope u get it back!!!
-
• #9663
Ian, e-mail local schools, PRU units etc. It's not the holidays, so if they were skiving you might catch up with them that way. In any event kids are usually not the brightest thieves (I'm a teacher) once caught a student discussing the merits of a Brompton he had on sale for £30...
-

or ask the library if those students are members, they dont have to tell u, they just need to let the police know
-
• #9665
Thanks, but I reported the whole incident to the police and CCTV images will hopefullty identify them as one the kids apparently looked up @ the camera.... whether it leads onto anything.... the library has assisted with whatever they can... and the police are doing all they can very shortly...

Just wondering whether anyone has put together a map of where bikes have been stolen from around London? It would be useful to know where the hotspots are etc to avoid locking bikes at these places.
-
• #9670
Anywhere in Dalston, Hackney, N1 or any postcode beginning with E.
-
• #9671
This I wouldn't leave a bike out of site in any of those locations
-
• #9672
That's not the point, some places are well known to be hot-spots such as outside the Rio Cinema or the George in Hackney, other places seem to be less targeted by criminals for whatever reason. It would be good to have a map showing where bikes get stolen a lot so you can decide what bike to take, what lock etc.

bit much of an ask. if I'm ever going out out I take a shit bike and/ or mucho locko.
yeah the map thing is a pipe dream. would be good though true. but I'd never rely just on a map. -
• #9674
would be useful tho true!
