  • This is all very interesting, but where does the battery go?

  • The new Hope Vision 1 have the upgrade that we all wanted; a low battery warning indicator and the request to make it uglier of course.

Apparently it's also brighter with the same run time.

The old style ones are down to £54 on wiggle.

  • old style: Terra 1 £46
is the Terra 1 Evo worth the extra £25? I'll be using it on roads so I'm happy enough with the 120 lumens, rather than 160, I think. seems to come with a few more bits and pieces, velcro strap, USB cable... can it still be charged from the mains not just a computer? (I know you can get USB sockets to plug in, but it would be another thing to buy). what else is different/better?

bump - anyone have the new one and can say whether it's worth it? Electron are still selling the old style on their website so it's not been simply upgraded and replaced.

  • Anyone had trouble with the holster of the Lezyne Femto pinging off when you try and remove them? Just sent this to their customer services.

I purchased the Lezyne Femto Drive front and rear lights this weekend. Whilst I'm most impressed with the luminosity of the LED the holster leaves a lot to be desired and I'm quite disappointed frankly. Unlike the equivalent Cateye loop, which has a permanently attached elastic holster the femto one is detached at both ends. What this means is that each time you have to remove it it flings off. When are you most likely top be using your lights, well of course at night and you'll never find it in the dark. I have already lost the holster for my front light. This wouldn't be such a problem if replacements were available (I can get the generic Cat-eye harness in any local bike store). I am quite frustrated that a quality product has now been rendered useless. Can you please later the design to that one end of it is attached to the light and/or make replacements available.

  • 'Later the design' could be slang for 'ditch it' I suppose, so full marks for unintentionally saying what you were thinking.

did you email them from your phone by any chance?

  • Damn, I didn't proof read the motherfucker, was too annoyed :(

I keep making loads of grammar and spelling mistakes of late, quite frustrating.

    see?

  • No lights, can't see shit!

  • no spellcheck, can'y spelll, domt wamt too

  • The Magicshine MJ-880 scored well in MBUK's September group test, and I've seen some for about £125 posted.

Before I buy, is there any competition for a £125 light which will do 2000 lumens for 2.3 hours?

  • I picked up one of the Cree XM-L T6 clones of ebay and a wide angle lens kit for it. All up I'm in it for £35 for ~1100lm for over 2.5hrs.

For loop blasting it's ample, that said I'll probably be adding a second one in spot mode next month with a Y splitter which will half the runtime. As I will only really be using full output with both for short periods it's not going to impact me, I just want a bit of the throw I lost going wide back for bits of trails. I can then also leave a charger at work and have a spare battery for extended runs. I'm looking at the similarly priced SSC P7 clones as they colour balance is a little warmer for the second light.

For the money I don't think you can beat it. It simply destroys the IQ, Phillips, Fenix and B&M lights I've been able to A-B it against. I'm away this weekend but I'll try and call by polo this week and you can have a play if you want.

    That's trade price!

  • Oh and if you really do want an 880 you can get them for £98 here:

    EDIT - Fockers are ex-VAT :-(

  • That doesn't include the battery either.

  • Got my Wiggle customer survey £10 off thing, gone for one of the old Hope Vision 1's. Not bad for £44 delivered.

  • finally, proper lights.

apparently the Shield got Dom pulled over by the popo. good to know it works!!

  • what are they :D? look purdy

  • Moon lights by the look of it.

  • ^^^ why pulled over?

  • too bright!

  • what are they :D? look purdy

    Moon Mask and Moon Shield

  • too bright!

I had a play with Hoke's, actually useless for proper riding with other people in the dark, brightness level borderline antisocial. Not cheap either.

Seem well built though and the USB charging is handy.

  • what I want to know is are they brighter than Exposure Flare?

  • ^Yep. Although I didn't get one - too expensive and although it's very bright, I just couldn't justify it. Did buy a Mask 5 however. Along with a Smart R2 which is almost antisocial too.
