I think Archetypes are some sexy shit! And this also means I can get TB14s now and our bikes won't be totally matching ;-)

Time for an update! This has been to France and back with me (on the car, not riding sadly), and down a mountain while we were there. It still does around 70 miles a week commuting too.
I bought a nitto b123aa bar and then realised the 90mm stem was a bit long, luckily i managed to sell it and buy an new 80mm version without loss. Still not sure about track drops though, i spend about 85% on the tops so they really aren't getting used properly, although they do look awesome.
I also recently switched to clipless, i don't know why i didn't sooner, i love it. I went with the much loved time atac pedals and some specialised shoes from my lbs, sidi's are my next pair though for sure.
Oh yeah and i painted the seat tube properly, its not even a close match but its better than rust imo. New chain too, sram pc7.
Here is a few teaser pics of another project i need to finish, i need to go to the machine shop to get something made for the headset and it will be good to go, i'm just being lazy. :)

haaa awesome! was thinking about this thread the other day.
nice to see you took pinarello too - is that whittle's?
-

Awesome build :)

Thanks guys, sorry Jake but i really can't leave it to rust so i had to do something.
And yeah its whittle's frame, i built it up even though i couldn't ride it, and it looks awesome, i will hopefully get it sorted in the next few weeks.

Damn this thread by the way, I think it has convinced me that I do in fact need to go the full whack and get some porn hubs (pun not intended) rather than Halo's. They look so shiny!

Your loaded now ^ (for now...) so go all out ;D
-
• #112
Yeah I am going to. Going to get the parts for the wheels at the weekend.
-
• #113
Oh and George by the way, that drop! Would B125's not have been a better fit?
-
• #114
^^^^^^^^^ I recently switched my commuter back to Atacs after using clips and straps for the summer. I always forget quite how much difference they make to riding fixed. So much fun, and so much more power through the pedal stroke.

Haha man you know you won't be happy unless you get exactly what you want, this has a goldtec on the front atm, but i know for a fact i will end up buying a matching phil for the front when i can be bothered to build the wheel.
As for the drops, your right. I bought them after i saw Phil Cheng's bike, (terrible excuse i know) and now i wish i had gone for the 125's, never mind they do look great, and i do use them more when i don't have a bag on my back.

Yeah they are very good, i'm converted. Only downside is having to carry a spare pair of shoes if you are walking any distance, still worth it even then.

^True about clipless, but if you know you're going somewhere where Sidi's won't be appropriate you could always get some DZR's. Real casual and time cleat compatible.
Yeah, going to Condor to get some Phil hubz. Gonna be so sexy. Not sure on low or high flange yet though. Have you had any issues with your rear phil slipping when you skid?
-
• #117
low flange is nicer IMO, but ive never actually used a bike on a track so i guess it depends
-
• #118
Never slipped mate, and I do give it some abuse too, I think you were just unlucky. If you want high flange then phils all the way, if you want low flange then I would get mack hubs or something else. :) and cheers I will have a look at the shoes.

Shortly after the last update i came to the conclusion the drops were too deep for the road, so i ordered a Nitto rb010aa bar, i really like it, a good compromise between speed and comfort. I also bought a zen ring as it was just too much of a bargain! And it has a gatorskin up front now too. enjoy. :)
Also i think i have changed my mind about grey rims also, pretty sure i am going to rebuild the rear with a black tb14.

Good shout on black rim.
Took the rb00100010101s out on the panny today. They are the radest bars ever. So happy with them and the Panasonic for that matter. How do you find the drop? Stem looks pretty low.

Yeah they are awesome bars, i think they are here to stay. I do want to go back to drops, but next time i will go for a non drop stem like nitto pearl or dynamic with either b125s or maybe those bonty compact bars everyone goes mad about.

Sorry to piss on your chips but Vivalo is not technically part of NJS any more
*apedant
-
• #123
Nor was your Vivalo when you sold it as a vivalo special njs in 2008 ;-)

• #124
JB's on fire with some old(school) folks today, watch out

Yeah but the NJS stamp on my bb shell stood for No Jokes Shitbag
Its raining, here are some pictures of my new rear wheel. I built it up last weekend but its been a busy week. let me know what you think.
I think a nitto b123aa bar is next on the list.
