  • It's the same as the nexus 7 though just with a dual core rather than quad core processor isn't it?

  • I am more interested in the Paperwhite

  • I just pulled the trigger.

If I hadn't just had to spend £400 on work related expenses so would I.

    God-fucking-damnit

  • Anyone want a current gen Kindle for 35 quid? There is a tiny crack in the plastic above the screen but apart from that it's in good nick. Can take pictures if anyone is interested.

I'd be interested in this, if it's still available!

  • Hi lastant, still available. Want some pictures?

  • Erm, should do really I guess...but sounds ideal as a present for the g/f to use on her commutes. Have just PM'd with an e-mail address, but if it's better to sort it 'out here' then happy to do that.

  • Oh FFS..

edit.. referring to fire HD as I only just bought a Kindle keyboard this week..

  • So the Kindle Fire HD does look awesome, but the UK get shafted again. Glad I'll be stateside so will get the 8.9" tablet with 1920x1200 res screen :)

  • Oh FFS..

    return it ?

  • Nexus 7 is better

  • hahaha the N7 is nice, but god the hardware quality is shit. I'm not going to keep waiting weeks and RMA'ing them to get one that works.

Also, XDA will root the Kindle HD, then JB will be installed :) I'm debating the 4G version, Amazon do a deal with 250mb a month data for $50 a year. Wonder if you can pay 100 for 500mb a month...

  • But the kindle specs aren't as good as the nexus.

I hope you lot aren't buying the kindle fire to read on either, as that'll be a pita.

  • The only thing debatable about spec wise is OMAP 4470 v. Tegra 3. The OMAP has higher memory throuhput and can do more floating point processeing per second than the Tegra 3. The proof will be when they are released though.

Other than that, the Kindle Fire HD beats the crap out of the N7. 32Gb ram (or 64Gb if you get the 4G version).

As for reading, I'm replacing my aging kindle 3g with a kindle paperwhite 3g I think.

I'm not sure why Amazon are not releasing the 8.9" tablet and the Paperwhite kindles in the UK. Seems silly.

  • We don't have a network that the LTE version can connect to in this country.

  • Just pre-ordered a paperwhite, meaning I can give my mum my kindle for her birthday. Win all round.

  • That sucks we can't get the paper white. What's the batter specs on it though? Still the same as before?

  • We don't have a network that the LTE version can connect to in this country.

True, although Orange/TMobile got the go ahead to run LTE on their current spectrum. ETA is early next year.

    Yeah 8weeks with wifi off

    Kindle Paperwhite 3G - Ereader with Free 3G & Built-In Light

  • That's fantastic.

Sounds weird but I went through a phase of not using my kindle much then picked it up recently and have been using it loads again.

Any reason why the kindle paperwhite isn't in the UK?

  • True, although Orange/TMobile got the go ahead to run LTE on their current spectrum. ETA is early next year.

So therefore selling it now would be a) a good idea or b) a bad idea?

  • Oh for fuck sakes, looks like my Kindle 3G Keyboard has just died. Paperwhite isn't out till the 1st of Oct, and would be like 150quid inc shipping to the UK.

Guess I'd better order some books, or get used to reading on my S3

  • Sounds weird but I went through a phase of not using my kindle much then picked it up recently and have been using it loads again.

I'm exactly the same - using it a lot again after a long lay off

  • removed the battery, still no go. leaving on charge for 2 hours and see.... otherwise meh

  • @kirth, my other half has a kindle keyboard 3g that she hasn't looked at for months. (slightly annoying as I frankensteined it from two previous broken ones, cracked screen and dead motherboard. All that effort....)

Would you like a bridging loan? After your N7 woes, I reckon you could do with a good turn.

  • @Mashton ... I'll let you know how the charging goes, probably will take you up on that though. My ETA to leaving to US is 1st Nov, so wouldn't be that long of a loan.

    Really appreciate the offer
