  • I would imagine FSG are wishing they hadn't listened to these helmets and followed their own instinct and hired an up-and-coming long-term manager back at a time when they had £100m burning a hole in their pocket....

    ...instead of listening to these banner-wielding, statue-carrying, full-kit-wearing, radio-phone-in-bollocks-tallking Rafa-loving bellends

Well, I think it's a bit harsh to blame it on Kenny, Comolli and FSG's love of moneyball will have had a lot of influence (and I still maintain it's too early to make a judgement on Carroll and Hendo, maybe even Downing).

But I agree with you that they shouldn't have appointed Kenny just because SOS and other fans wanted it. Assuming Hodgson had to be sacked, Kenny was probably a good choice to be caretaker until the end of the season, but that should have been the end of it.

  • ChainBreaker is way more prolific though.

he usually falls off a moving bike

  • It's not really true though is it?
The elastico (by ronaldhino), la roulette (zidane), rabana (umpteen swaggering cock ponies - giggs), bicyle kick (pantani).

  • none of them named after the player that put it into the cultural consciousness, if the elastico was called a ronaldinho, or the roulette a zidane, and you could call it such and people would know what you were talking about then they would be the same as a panenka. But they are not.

Its like when Roberto Carlos scored that freekick against france, it wasn't called a roberto carlos or a carlos, or a roberto, it was just a curled freekick or as we called them back in the day a curler.. Others had done it before, and others will do it after, he didn't invent it and isn't credited with it.

what immediately comes to mind in this back and forth is gymnastics, where moves, vaults, positions, etc are named after the person who invented/showed them competitively for the first time.

Tsukahara's name is one of the most famous in gymnastics due to its association with two widely performed skills. The first is the full-twisting double salto in the tuck position (with the full twist in the first salto). The Men's Gymnastics Code of Points credits Tsukahara for premiering this skill on floor exercise and horizontal bar, and he regularly performed it on these events throughout his career. In fact, in many nations, it is customary to call a full-twisting double salto tumble or dismount a "Tsukahara" on all apparatus, both for men and women. This skill is sometimes called a "Moon Somersault" or "Moon Salto".
Tsukahara is also credited with having invented a vaulting technique called the "Tsukahara vault". This vault is generally described as a roundoff over the horse/table into a backward salto, with or without twist.

  • No. What I'm saying is you're a cunt.

By your logic, Pirlo has put it (back) into the cultural consciousness. "doing a Pirlo" is what he said. It references the BBC's coverage, Jonathon Pearce, Pirlo and probably Panenka. How's that for an alliterative sentence?

  • Well, *I think it's a bit harsh to blame it on Kenny*, Comolli and FSG's love of moneyball will have had a lot of influence (and I still maintain it's too early to make a judgement on Carroll and Hendo, maybe even Downing).

This sums up the bellend fanbase of Liverpool FC Ltd

  • There was no need to post that. Horrendous stuff.

For the sake of your eyes - please don't look.

  • It might give our inhouse Kopites little semi's??

  • "Barman! Mental bleach please..."

  • Five biggest summer transfer spenders, via L’Equipe;
    1 #PSG €145m,
    2 #CFC €100m,

    5 #THFC €65.5m

There used to be a time when #LFC would splash the cash on overpriced shit because they were so desperate to stay in touch with the Big 8. Now, it seems as though they are resigned to relegation battles.

  • Pun, you've got to spend the money to standstill sometimes.
And does that total include money in from players out?
I'd say we're like at 20-30m in outlay, when you take into account modric and vdv heading out the door as well..

  • Your daughter even calls it "dirty Leeds", which I think is priceless.

It's not that dirty any more. Just slightly grubby now.

She goes to university there. She knows what it is like. Back to back slums and a city when General Lucifer appears erudite.

You cheeky sod. Next time you're up here I'll take you to the lovely part of town.

    We call it 'Harrogate'.

I went to Leeds for a yentz once.

And we're still trying to eradicate that vicious strain of Herpes to this day.

A Jewish northerner. Is that possible?

Lots of Jews in Leeds. It's because we we're hugely into the cloth trade, tailors, etc.

There's even a posh suburb called Alwoodley full of huge houses which is still predominantly Jewish - it's known locally by the quaintly racist nickname of Alyiddly

Leeds was a rich picking ground when I was a student. Clearly the women of Leeds are desperate.

How dare you say Leeds women are desperate!!!

    They're not.

They just really, really like cock.

it seems they're trying to live within their means hopefully saving a little cash for a new/upgraded stadium as that was a condition of sale... I've no idea if that can be enforced though

LFC are the only prem club with 1 registered striker as part of the squad of 25... hell we only registered 20 players as we've got a lot of young'uns on the books
