and another thing.
Jonathon Pearce on Motd the other night, called Van Persie's saved penalty, a "Pirlo". It was fucking not, it was a Panenka. Just because someone has done the same thing in recent memory, does not make them the inventor, first person to have that skill/technique attributed to them.
Fucking Rooney could do a Cryuff turn, in the Champions League final, leading to Utd winning the damn thing again, but it will not, and should not be called a Rooney.
Come on Pearce, for a supposed student of the game, you don't get any points for trying to rewrite the history of football to please the recent converts...

I wonder if B&D and pistantor's tales of yentzing are as accurate as their transfer predicitions.

I see SOS are spouting their usual bullshit again.
So the manager should be supported with all the resources at the clubs disposal? So let's not try and save up for a new stadium? Let's not try and cut our wage bill, so that we have money when we need it in the future?
They go on about how we need a UK based Chief Executive, and how not having one is the root of all our problems, yet don't explain how...
In better news the Liverpool U21s vs Man City Reserves finished 2-2.
I think it's a really positive move that we've moved on our older squad players, and don't play them in the reserves, keeping that for young players. Man City on the other hand had Gareth Barry, Scott Sinclair and others in their team.
Both City goals were penalties, both from stupid tackles, and the first was really frustrating, as it rebounded off the post, but no Liverpool players had chased the ball into the box, so it was an easy finish for City. Clearly some lessons to learn in defence.
But in attack things were really positive, two easy tap ins from Mark Pelosi, but both were built on great ball handling, movement and passing leading up to the goal.
We were even missing a number of our top U21s, Morgan, Yesil and Suso were all on international duty.

Chalfie, like I give a flying....
score three goals in a game, call it whatever you want, define it however you want.
call a skill/trick by a person's name, it's always called by their name. -

Or you could just loosen up a bit...

So let me get this straight.....The fans who badgered FSG into getting rid of Hodgson and permanently appointing The King, which led to an extraordinary exercise in how to waste huge amounts of money on mediocre players, which appears to have directly led to the predicament they find themselves in now, whereby they're not prepared to cough up a few million ££ for a 29 year old scorer of 23 goals last season when they've just loaned-out their star striker....these same fans now want a greater say in the running of the club?
I would imagine FSG are wishing they hadn't listened to these helmets and followed their own instinct and hired an up-and-coming long-term manager back at a time when they had £100m burning a hole in their pocket....
...instead of listening to these banner-wielding, statue-carrying, full-kit-wearing, radio-phone-in-bollocks-tallking Rafa-loving bellends
JOKES!

marky, on most aspects of football I am fairly limber, but you don't go around changing the name of something because someone else did it more recently, its not slang, where you can have different versions saying the same thing.
First person to do said thing, and it is attributed to them gets bragging rights in perpetuity, a Panenka is a Panenka and not a Pirlo, seeing as the Pirlo came in a tournament approx forty years after said Panenka...
Matter of principle, and Pearce should know better..

So you have bragging rights to falling off a stationary bike outside the Florence - "doing a Corny"
-
• #65492
Surely that's doing a "ChainBreaker"?
-
• #65493
only if the "corny" is induced by comment about a kids bike, in relation to a small adult male.

Corny got there first...

ChainBreaker is way more prolific though.

No no no no no - "Doing a Corny" involves a lengthy tyre change.

Irrelevant, according to Corny...
-

@ Aroogah, only if said tyre change happens at a pub.
@ Marky, attributable, most of europe in the black and white tv age saw the panenka, only you, and a select few others saw the florence incident. -
