Those courier guys, Jasper and Phil 'Winfield' Churchill do a great job with their "Rollerpalutza" wheelie racing kits! It's gonna be the next big craze in cycling

On the basis that Anna has been a member of this forum for a considerably longer time and contributed more to it and to cycling than our dear provincial friend, I would much prefer to hear from her on the subject of cycling than him.
Being on this dubious forum for a while makes someone's contributions more interesting does it? scottmac's contributions here and on another thread are cracking, we need more...

Missed it this week... But speaking of Obree, that Jonny Lee Miller movie about him is pretty cool (The Flying Scotsman)...

has anyone read 'The hour' by Michael Hutchinson. Its about his failed attempted at the hour. Pretty funny stuff seeing as he wrote a whole book about failing dismally at his attempt to break it..

Yes, I've read it. He is a good writer. He's also written a book about sailing but I haven't read that one.

That bloke's Cycle to Work scheme mountain bike is going nowhere near his place of work, i reckon.

• #270

isn't the clue in the name
or can anyone just buy a bike and save 40% regardless of what they use it for
they mentioned a saving of 40% odd but where do you see that ? do they discount the price of the bike by 40% or is it the fact you don't pay PAYE / tax thus the bike is 25% to 40% ( dependant on tax bracket ) cheaper ? -
• #272
Somehow Anna is getting more and more wooden..

dicki
50% of the journeys done by that bike are supposed to be cycling to work, not sure if this is 50% of the distance done or 50% of the times you take it out of the shed.
You repay the loan from your pre-tax so this is where the saving kicks in.

plans new bike purchase
they said max was £1000, could someone use the full £1000 and top up out of their own pocket ? to take advantage of the 40% off
Knew you'd love it. It was more for Winnie though!
