    Moonlander in 24" eh............................... Hmmmmmmmmm?

  • Microshift shifter eh?

Make sense as they're cheap and you can get thumbshifter one as well as bar-end, just hope the shifting isn't as bad as their MTB one (which I hope the Pugsley don't have).

  • edit; look like the thumbshifter, good work Surly;

With new 4.7" mud tyres in the pipeline too.

I've designed my fat frame for 4.7" big fat larrys. these are 9mm wider due to the tread (guessing same carcase). I promised to E-mail my builder exact measurements of my BFLs on 80mm rims. Gonna use the Bud/lou dimensions instead (if they are infact bigger).

  • Langster Pro looks super nice. I want one for the track.

  • ^^ I wonder how the Bud/Lou would cope with wet clay. Narrow cyclocross tyres cut through it pretty well, but don't like slimy tree roots!

  • Nice to see Specialized making a proper track frame

  • Any experience of these shifters Ed? Quite like the look of them for if I gear up the Ogre in the future.

I've got the bar end ones and they've worked great for me. The adjustablility feature is great and allows you to swap between indexed and friction.

  • ^ Cheers! I've had rapidfire shifters give up after a few years, something simpler would be more confidence inspiring.

*Yes..... I know one gear is simplest :-)

Thats the thing. Sometimes its nice to have a tyre that sinks in a bit. You're certainly not going to was out sideways. Maybe a fat tyre floating more on the surface would?

A knobbly 4.7" tyre at 10 PSI is going to laugh at roots though.

I've had DA bar end shifters on a 9 speed CX-commuter set-up for a while. Took serious abuse. Still works (well the frames fecked, but the shifters work).

10 speed shimano wont work, as the MTB and road components dont play well. But 10 speed Sram does ('exact actuation' stuff). As does 9 speed shimano.

So with some Paul thumbies you can put together your own thumb shift MTB system using TT levers.

I have a bling bling TT900 lever, Paul thumbie, X0 rear mech set-up ready for the fat bike.

  • ^^ If only there was a way to find out, without spending lots of money & destroying my body via repetitive crashing!

  • ^^ Any idea if those Paul thumbies work with Dura Ace downtube shifters?

  • ^^ Any idea if those Paul thumbies work with Dura Ace downtube shifters?

Yes they do. But you need the shimano ones., and as I said 9 speed, if you want a mtb rear mech.

DA thumb shifters + Deore mech + 11-32 cassette. Did me for years of cummuting. As the shifters were on the bar ends of midge bars they were the first things to hit the deck. Should I crash (which I do a lot). Still work perfikk.

  • ^ Good to know, thanks!

  • New dales on the singletrack website.

    Nice looking singlespeed 29er. ( £599.99 )

    New cyclocross bikes. Good to see a budget option caad x ( £799.99 ) alongside the super x ( £3,699.99 ).

  • What up with Cannondale's mechanic? the Super X have the handlebar set pointed upward, whether the CAADX's downward.
