The only KOM I can see being possible is Putney Bridge...at night...with a long run up...in a car.
You're taking the piss.

I was thinking about the emails they send when KOM is lost, and whether that is a factor in this court case in the US.
If Strava send an email telling you that you lost a segment, they are in effect inciting you to try and regain that segment. If it happens that the KOM record is over the speed limit, they are effectively inciting you to break the limit.
" Uh oh! Phil Attaway just stole your KOM!
Hey Apollo,
You just lost your KOM on Upper Street to Phil Attaway by 7 seconds.
Now get out there, have fun and be safe.
-Your friends at Strava
"a) I don't have a smartphone to get you back.....soon.
B) yeah this does entice you to go faster -

I most definitely said no cars! ;-)
Srsly, if there were no cars or buses on the bridge, and you had a run up anyone on a decent gear could be KOM.

How far off KOM are you on each?
A long way!
The segments are:
Endymion Road
- 25/29 @11.5mph. Wasn't really rushing this, although for some reason this climb really takes it out of me. KOM is 19.7, #9 is 15.2 which I can probably beat.
Tollington Rd Sprint
- 127/229 @18.7mph. KOM is 35.7mph which I think is probably a bit reckless for me to aim for, past a primary school in rush hour.
Camden Road Westbound - 68/213 @16.5mph. KOM is 25.2mph which I just won't manage. 18 is probably a good target here I think.
Camden Road Downhill sprint - 217/233 @12mph. Not really going to be in the running, what with rush hour traffic and a lack of a death wish. KOM is 34.6mph.
And on the return leg:
Camden Road Descent
- 224/276 @16.8mph. KOM is 28.7. Traffic was the issue with this today.
Lady Jail Drop - 297/316 @15mph. KOM is 34.6. It's just a part of the above.
a10 north - Joint 3rd/36 @ 22.9mph, although KOM is apparently 36mph! 2nd place looks doable though - I was held up behind someone on a road bike this evening.
- 25/29 @11.5mph. Wasn't really rushing this, although for some reason this climb really takes it out of me. KOM is 19.7, #9 is 15.2 which I can probably beat.

I occasionally browse some of the high-ranking performances to check for blatant car usage, a lot easier to do outside of urban areas.

made it to second place by a couple of seconds and got kom on a little hill near home.this is fun

• #983
you strava fiends heard about the US cyclist that died going for a KOM? his family are suing Strava and apparently have alleged that Strava should have marked out the segment physically with road cones. Full blown natty bonkers.

One of my KOMs has been messed up by the GPS spazzing out (now reads 46mph, lulz). Annoying as I was KOM anyway with a realistic time...

I've accidentally got my workmates obsessed with strava. One of them dropped his phone yesterday while he was out running and kicked it about 20ft down the street because he was too busy looking at the 'requesting location' message to look where he was going. He's now chasing a KOM on his commute and has given me his permission to sue Strava on his behalf if he kills himself doing it.

i could do with some cash. i might set up an outrageously dangerous KOM and then sue Strava for the first person that uses it. haven't accepted their new t's and c's yet anyway :-)
How recreating the Eddie Murphy sprinting-across-a-motorway scene from that '90s movie (edit: Bowfinger) as a segment on the M25?

That worked a treat, thanks. That's cut the amount of nonsense commuting rides in my feed by 50%.
I tried as well, but there's that huge flat non-sense right in the middle of the data in the performance tab that makes the visualisation useless to say the least, you know... those crappy 9 hours when you stay off the bike...
Plus the difference in elevation once the device is turned on again...
I think I'll stick to the 2 recordings per day, sadly.

Different strokes. The bit of GPS data that I worry about most is distance, and seeing the trace of where I've been, so it doesn't bother me. I'm thinking about the Dynamo - doubt my Edge 200 will last the whole way. So I'm going to do Tooting to the start on the phone, upload that, then run the Garmin to Dunwich. Then I'll probably have to go back to my phone for the 40 miles to Norwich. Then I'll have to stitch the files together in notepad. Really don't want to miss out on getting a trace for the whole ride. Sad, I know.

This Rapha challenge, anyone doing it? I can't see that there are enough hills around in London.

• #994
I now leave the GPS on as I carry my bike up two flights of stairs at the end of my ride.

If you have a lift at work you can just leave your bike in there during the working day.

Just gave this thing a try on my way home from work.
Got 9th place on the mid southgate rd sprint @ 22.1 MPH.
The chap at 1st did it at 29 MPH... -

Has anyone else had Strava claiming they've been on a ride with someone else? I recorded a ride last week and found I'd been joined by someone called Richard Morris! An invisible wheelsucker perhaps.

Yep, I've had this. And yet I did the Dunwich Dynamo with a couple of other Stravees and they didn't show up...

I get that all the time - I also get it with people that I did actually ride with, though. As far as I can tell it just looks at the route all both took and the approximate time and makes you BFFs, even if your unknown associate is loads faster / slower than you and you didn't actually see them once during the ride.
It knew, for e.g, that I did the same Maths Geek ride as mountaingoatmatt, even though I left a full hour before he did, and even though he got to the destination something like 3 hours before I pootled up.
