shouldn't it be bringing it down ;-)

  • Railway parlance, the up line is line line to London (or connects to London line) the down line is away from London.
Anything brought into London is therefore Up.

  • My horrible clip on bottle cages just arrived, will do the job though. Trying to work out whether I need a new front light. Mmmmm!

Hey Lovejoy23, Just heard on the facebook group that there is an unofficial "ticket office" (note the quotation marks!) near the pub on the park that may have some tickets from people who can no longer make it on the day.... Worth a try anyway... Good luck.

i thought i was a half intelligent bloke but this makes no sense to me!

  • In railway signal boxes you will see the levers and line maps are marked up or down, you still see this on some platforms. Up denotes to London, Down away from London so it is correct to say up to London.

Unless like me you are from Derby, where Derby is always Up and away from Derby is Down, this is because of our moral and intellectual superiority to all other parts of the country.

  • And Derby being the centre of the universe, I might have forgot that bit.

  • nice one, thank you S1mon.

  • I found a wiki on this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rail_directions#United_Kingdom
see Derby is the origin of all existence.

  • Anything traveling out of Norwich is going up. In my mind.

i keep asking myself this? i did it last year and can't remember for the life of me whether my lights were sufficient or not! dam

  • ^^ You've paid for peace-of-mind though almac68. The premium over buying from china will be worth it if there are any warranty issues (which are quite common in my experience).

You're a nice guy. Don't make me show you my PowerPoint presentation on the charms of Norwich. I won't hear a bad word said.

  • currently prepping for the ride by spending a week in Toulouse on a fully-rigid singlespeed 29er, roll on Saturday! The red Schwinn is my steed for the night (except with BLB bullhorns, running 42x15):

  • dynamo bike is all set up. Sorry for the crap photo, couldn't be arsed to leave the sofa.

I'm quite impressed with the Elite bottle cage straps, about £7 for a set but so useful.

  • That very impressive but why have you mount them in such way that you can't removed them without wrestling with the bike at night?

  • with those cages you can just lift them up and forward, don't need much space for it.

I was about to ask the same but the more usual configuration wouldn't work with the frame bag. So long as the top one is easy to get in and out it'll be fine. Once it's finished you just toss it into the hedge TdF style and tuck into the next one, and when the other riders see you do that they'll think you're well cool and probably proper professional and sponsored or sumfink (or you swap them over at your next piss stop, which of course must be in someone's front garden, or better yet, actually piss through their letterbox).

  • whilst singing, you forgot to add the bit about singing
