• You can borrow mine. I have tattoo'd this route on my body prison break styleee

  • how you going to look at it? you riding naked?

  • He meant it's tattooed on his back and you can ride behind him.
    Good luck.

  • alright last question from me (honest)

what is everyone doing about the shoe situation? i don't know about you but i think a load of cyclists walking as if they're tip toeing around a museum will be quite funny.

is anyone bringing another pair of shoes?

  • I don't plan on doing much walking.

  • What 6pt said.
I'm not intending on actually visiting the museum outside of seeing the entrance from the road.

The actual end point of the ride is a pub which will be serving food for those in need to chips, water refills and something sugary. So I may walk from the kerb to the bar and back.

  • if the climbers go full power on the climbs and don't let up at all, i will get dropped.

current forecast is for a 15mph tail/side wind with 35mph gusts.
wear a big t-shirt and stick your elbows out to make a sail.

    slog home might be tough.

  • Keeping hoping for that tailwind to stick.
We rode it with a headwind on Monday and, to be diplomatic, it wasn't great.

Getting anywhere near the desired average speed will be decidedly more difficult if that wind changes.

  • If you have a headwind it'll be easier to keep a group of varied abilities together, there is that.

  • Sounds like a "don't have the legs, too scared to admit it" type of excuse

    brother!

  • what was the time/avg speed on monday and who were the riders?

  • just over three hours, object and myself.
taking it easy out of town and on most of the roads, average was 17.1mph until the last 10 mile stretch when we were out of water and moaning about hangovers.

  • ALL:
if you're awkward and want a TCX

converted tcx avail here on BRT

  • average was 17.1mph

    did that include piss breaks?

  • What 6pt said.
So I may walk from the kerb to the bar and back.

    haha this made me laugh

  • benjam
    Don't fuck with bear, He's a cat 3 don't you know.

    smiff
6pt and I and slower than the above advertised speed. I blame Sunday's excesses and two solid days of sliding along concrete whilst pretending I can ride a BMX.

    Zanda
    Cheers.

  • did that include piss breaks?

    no wee stops.

  • no wee stops.

  • benjam
    Don't fuck with bear, He's a cat 3 don't you know.

  • The meeting point for the ride is the church on Warwick Avenue.

This is the route that we are using

(Please note you can download a GPX if that's your thing, if you're awkward and want a TCX PM me your email address before Thursday evening).
For those riding fixed or SS, please check the profile (Show & Elevation Profile on the above link) and select an appropriate gear. The uphill, though not steep, is fairly relentless.

    The fast group - 2×82.85k:
Sub 3 hours out, no wee stops.
6pt reckons he could do it 19–20mph average solo so we'll be looking to improve on that as a group. I will also endeavour to teach him that his choice of unit is inferior.
People doing the fast ride one way will be frowned upon (unless they happen to carry on for a solo century warm down).

    3) joe smith - geared up to the eyeballs

    FAST GROUP PLEASE NOTE:

Owing to the above riders in the fast group should be prepared to get themselves to Bletchley if they fall off the back. Again self-sufficiency is key.

  • I'm out. Not in the mood for a group ride and to be honest, I prefer my own route out to Bletchley.

I might see you on the road at some point or other.

  • ...and stop whining about the slight upward average gradient. It's not that bad at all.

  • I'd like to ask you for it at some point Sean.

  • Edmundro and lady Liz out - gotta move house on sat now :/

  • It looks as if there's a good chance I won't make the ride, as I'm ill. This is especially problematic as I offered to navigate the slow ride. It would be good if someone else could step forward to prepare navigation duties in the likely event that I can't come. Any volunteers?
