  • You're not a national are you?

  • He's eligible to ride CTT National Championships

  • I've lived here long enough.

  • What's the requirement, just UK residence?

  • Don't worry, I'm not likely to take away your countrymen's trophies..

  • I think I've missed the boat on the English nats anyway..

Anyone have opinions on either of these two events:

    w/c Monday, June 18, 2012 100mi E2/100C Chelmsford BBAR

    w/c Monday, June 25, 2012 100mi R100/1 Welsh Champs BBAR

I think the E2 is near Cambridge so probably quicker to get to but what of the two courses?

  • Mr Australia cheats Britons in cycling comp craziness
(AIDS risk to UK kids from Aussie cheat)

  • Mr Australia beats Britons in cycling comp craziness
(AWESOME risk to UK kids from Aussie legend)

Don't you have some trackies to scowl at and some squatting to do?

"That's it RPM I'll push that bar, right up, you can do it, ooh yeah, squeeze those cheeks, good form yeah, I'm almost done, almost there, gotta keep pushing.. oh yes!! oh yes!!"

  • Expecting plenty of sides with that burger..

  • I think the E2 is probably quicker

    .

  • Quicker to get to but quicker to race on?

I might save the Wales trip for the 12hr and make a weekend of it. I like cycling in Wales (not sure about their A roads though).

  • Expecting plenty of sides with that burger..

Lol. Unlike many of your countrymen, you accept loss with good grace.

Nearly there, not long now. It'll soon be over and I'll be fatter and you'll be poorer. 4 long years of bickering under our belts.

    What next, 2016?

  • The E2 is a faaaaaaaaaaaaast course.

  • @hippy and RPM - ultimately, I've already won your bet due to not giving a fuck about any of it, so one of you can buy me the burger and sides, and the other can do drinks and dessert. Looking forward to it.

  • Hehe.. nice try. But competitiveness is what makes me get out of bed in the morning. Without that I'd be knocking back energy gels mixed with vodka, watching porn, spending my hard-earned on coke and midgets and eventually ending it all by jumping in front of a Mr Whippy van on the M4. Allegedly.

You're more than welcome to join in our lunch bmmf. I'll share my chips.

Indeed. Unless eating in public has become too mainstream for him by then.

Actually, eating in public is pretty mainstream for anyone.

  • I'll share my chips.

    It's a trap.

  • The Welsh champs events are all pretty much on the same network of roads. All based around Abergavenny and Usk area. I rode all distances last year except the 25 and enjoyed each one. I also rode the National 12 hour and the Welsh 12 definitely had the better atmosphere.

Regarding online events. Chek the events list here for a link in the online column. more and more promotors are using it now. Link is all South Wales district races for this year btw.

No, I'm down with it. It's quite the thing at the moment, food dogging.

I wouldn't bother with Ti BB axles, they are less stiff and square taper already feels noodly (not that it seems to matter what they feel like)

Whether 'aero' chainrings are actually aero seems not to have been widely tested, but they look good and are probably stiffer than highly cut away rings.

Are you using a single chainring (1x7) set up?
Are you using the correct 103mm BB-7410?

Also, you could hold fire for a while if nothing actually needs replacement and wait for the 2013 Campag Bora cranks which combine everything you want - aero style, Q no bigger than traditional cranks, Ti axle but with external BB so it doesn't lack stiffness, and even ceramic bearings. Seems that they have left no bling factor unchecked. You have a year to save up, which you'll need to as the price is likely to be above the £800rrp of the current Super Record Ti TT chainset

Foodforthought there! Not that it matters as I just had a definitive no to my tt bike, so now I have to either find a new frame or try set up my caad9...

Yep, 1x7 (and sometimes 8) with the 7410 bb.

Think my budget falls slightly short on that one ;)

  • 3 online entries yesterday.

    Welsh 25 mile champs
    Welsh 50 mile champs
    Welsh 100 mile champs

Posting entries tonight for the Welsh 10 mile and 12 hour champs too. Full House!

Where are these this year? I might go and watch the 25mi. Possibly ride the course before/after the event as I'm yet to do a 25.

  • 10 is R10/17 Abergavenny to Raglan and back on A40 http://app.strava.com/activities/6718599#129197362 Best to watch on a bridge.

25 is R25/3L Neath Bank. Fastest 25 mile in the country? NOTE: Not the R25/7 as I previously stated. Sorry for confusion

50 is R50/1 Abergavenny to Monmouth 2 times on A40 http://app.strava.com/activities/3331472 Probably best to watch from a bridge over the A40. Theres a few.

100 is R100/1 Abergavenny to Monmouth 3 times http://app.strava.com/activities/3331481 again watch on bridges or Mitchel Troy back road stretch

12 hour is complex but involves most same roads from the above including more back roads http://app.strava.com/activities/3331485 (excuse the pitiful 200 miles. My arse was cut to ribbons. Hope for closer to 250 this year)

  • The E2 is a faaaaaaaaaaaaast course.

My brother travels up there quite often to race, but (annoyingly) most 10's and 25s require membership of the promoting organisation (the ECCA), which his club has paid to do.

I just stick to the slower roads of Kent...

  • I've entered the E2/100C. They were oversubbed but he let me enter anyway. I'd like to think my time was fast enough but he probably just heard desperation in my voice or something.
