Good effort OSR, you doing this fixed?

Are you saying his back door is fragile?
-
• #2629
Lol nah im on gears, and yeah im slightly paranoid about people crashing into my back doors...

Bugger, I was looking forward to doing a TT tonight. Plaster cast on the wrist says no.
-
• #2631
Does it not fit on the elbow pads?
-
• #2632
Nope, goes too far up the arm. On top of that it was raining - not meant to get it wet.
-
• #2633
carrier bag + htfu?
-
• #2634
if it gets wet just sculpt it into some sort of aerodynamic arm fairing.
everyone will want one.
-
• #2635
Only if its made from carbon!
-
• #2636
proof that if you think of it, it's already in the internet
"The DonJoy OTS wrist brace is constructed from a composite of Kevlar, epoxy resin and carbon fibre making it lightweight, exceptionally strong and very low profile."
-
• #2637
I'm tempted to saw of an inch away from the elbow end to allow me to use the armrest. I can't use any other bike as i can hardly grip anything properly
-
• #2638
Get well soon! how long are you entombed in plaster for?
Have you got a turbo or rollers - might be safest option :-( -
• #2639
Only until the 25th. The problem with using the turbo or rollers is that I have to put weight on my hand. It's something I can't do atm, that's why TT bike was good. Probably only 30secs total time when I have weight on my hand.

I'm looking to upgrade the chainset on my tt bike, it's a 126 spaced frame, 7 speed block on my disc and da 7410 cranks (which have a really narrow q factor). The chainline isn't great as it is, so if I get a set of Fsa Neo(which, with a gxp bb will push the chainline out a fair bit), will it just ruin my chainline to the point of not working?
Thanks chaps
-
• #2641
I wouldn't regard any FSA chainset as a worthwhile upgrade over 7410.
If you do, bear in mind Xavier Disley's results on Q-factor - narrower is better for power output.
Although external bearing will probably lead to a bigger Q (which is nearly always a bad thing) chainline is unlikely to change much as external BB cranks have the spider dished to bring the rings inboard

Really?
So should I just get an aero chainring and maybe a posh ti/carbon bottom bracket then?
Thanks.

• #2643
doesn't/didn't Nick Craig use mtb shoes (and a peaked hemlmet) in road races?
Carbon soled MTB shoes are plenty stiff enough for jack of all trades tri-muppets.
-
• #2644
Well yes, but he's a mountainbiker and doesn't know any better

So should I just get an aero chainring and maybe a posh steel bottom bracket then?
ftfy
I wouldn't bother with Ti BB axles, they are less stiff and square taper already feels noodly (not that it seems to matter what they feel like)Whether 'aero' chainrings are actually aero seems not to have been widely tested, but they look good and are probably stiffer than highly cut away rings.
Are you using a single chainring (1x7) set up?
Are you using the correct 103mm BB-7410?Also, you could hold fire for a while if nothing actually needs replacement and wait for the 2013 Campag Bora cranks which combine everything you want - aero style, Q no bigger than traditional cranks, Ti axle but with external BB so it doesn't lack stiffness, and even ceramic bearings. Seems that they have left no bling factor unchecked. You have a year to save up, which you'll need to as the price is likely to be above the £800rrp of the current Super Record Ti TT chainset

Just came back for a morning ride to check out Notthingham Clarion's 10 route.
Felt great, some massive headwinds this morning, but at least I won't get lost on it.
Rode it 2ce, and came back- no real indication of how fast I'd be- but the loops were about 26/28 mins, not really pushing it that much, and waiting for a friend a bit of the time.
Will be tempted this thursday if I'm free. -

Is it possible to enter the National 100mi or do they have some kind of qualifying or rider number cutoff? Entries close today.. think maybe the Welsh 100mi Champs are more sensible.
-
• #2650
Enter the National. it's very unlikely to get a full field, and your 4:28 will get you in even if it does.
Well he is, by definition, a stupid kid. Cheers guys, need some htfu pills for the uphill drag next time and ill be sorted :-)
