I bought some of those Endura neoprene style overshoes yesterday mid-ride, just after the heavens opened in the Welsh mountains...(came to wales without knee/legwarmers or overshoes... Optimistic) I was very glad of them, but they are not really that good. I much prefer the Pro ones I normally use.

Endura deluge? Utter dogshit, 2 pairs have already gone back for splitting at the seam.

Bugger, I bought a pair of those today.

I'm not sure if they're the Deluge's - they have a MT5somethingorother number on the side. They are orange inside. Aside from not working that well (they were far from terrible though- pretty warm, probably good for winter) they are also the ugliest things I've ever owned.
When I get home they are going straight to the backup drawer.

MT500? This is a fact.
Otherwise, they seemed pretty good aside from water soaking down my legs...What do you normally use?

mt500 look like wellington boots! heard they are good for when its wet though
endura pro slick dont keep any water out underneath as the whole overshoe is held in place by a single elasticated strap. as soon as it rains hard the water just comes in they are splashproof though and very light so useful in a jersey back pocket
mavic h2o pro looked cool but the cut around the ankle was too low leaving socks exposed
mavic h2o trail currently on test!
endura deluge good waterproofness but flimsy turns out 4 pairs went back for the same fault including 1 in a bigger size
endura luminite crap annoying velcro and not really waterproofbloody overshoes... the bane of my commute

Mine have been ok, however you need to wrap electrical tape around the top or they just fill up with rain that runs down your leg.

considering the weather.... bump
any more feedback on the ENDURA MT500?

I've read BDW's posts saying that a section of motorcycle inner tube makes a good seal between leg and overshoe, preventing rain from running down your legs into the shoe.
Any better suggestions, or has BDW hit the nail on the head?
I have used electrical tape to make this seal before, but that lacked a certain elegance.

Hmmm, perfect timing on this discussion. Am I right in thinking some normal Rapha overshoes won't go on some Sidi Dominators, them being MTB shoes?
-
• #143
yeah they will but get the endura deluge ones instead for half the price! neoprene is neoprene at the end of the day
-
• #144
Are there any alternatives to neoprene?
I'm not worried about warmth I just want to find something that's actually waterproof - had my body dry the other day with waterproof jacket, trousers and cap but still had to spend the day with trainers drying off sat at work in soggy socks.
(Ended up cycling today wearing waterproofs and two plastic bags on my feet looking like a hobo Roy Cropper out of fear of another soggy foot day - it was sunny the whole way)

Same, I'm not after warmth so much as decent waterproofing.
I saw Gore road overshoes seem to get some good reviews but can't find anywhere in London to try on.

I use those over regular shoes. buy the size up if you're going to do this but they stretch a fair bit. They are waterproof, but in torrential rain get a little damp on the inside (could of course be condensation from the warmth of feet as the rain appears to run straight off them), but not enough to get through your shoes, has certainly never given me wet feet. They're nice and high so there's not gap between my waterproof trousers and them. Would definitely recommend and wont break the bank. Could probably find them cheap online then pricematch in evans too if you can be bothered

the problem with waterproof overshoes is the seal between your leg and the top of the overshoe. granted if you do what bmx fred does and have waterproof trousers over the top you will be ok but if you will be wearing shorts or non waterproof trousers you are screwed. and.. neoprene is the best you will find for waterproofness in the overshoe market ive tried most of them and they all fail in the same way.

Thanks chaps. Seal at the top is important for me as I will wear with shorts or winter long bibs. Just want to avoid serious water in the shoe if it's raining, seems a lot to ask at this point!
-
• #149
@bmx_fred What shoes do you use them on?
-
• #150
These appear to not be neoprene so hopefully might actually be waterproof -
(I'm not sure if it's because I have restraps and that just breaks the seal or whether all neoprene shoe covers are just crap but soon as it really rains I've always still had soaked trainers and it's def not from the seal at the top as always been whilst wearing waterproof trousers that easily cover the top of them)
Not sure how much use they will be without waterproof trousers but that's not a problem for me as I'd only be wearing them with so I'm going to give them a try and will let you know if the seal looks like it would make them any use without trousers
Water gets in eventually. At least it's not milk.
