  • bought the Planet X Neoprene Overshoes for the commute, great price and compact. will let all know how they work out.

plan is to carry as little weight/ volume as possible i.e. no change of shoes. thinking cycle in t-shirt, shorts and gilet, pertex windbreaker and overshoes. jeans, jumper, hat in bag. switch shorts and gilet for jeans and jumper at destination.

  • @bmx_fred What shoes do you use them on?

today some air max 90s, yesterday loafers, anything I'm wearing that day

  • Oh right I meant if you used SPD's but that answers my next question of what to use when in straps

  • Going to get these later

I think extreme should cover the UK weather. Will report on usage etc.

  • like most castelli overshoes they're pretty good but are not the most durable - also if you have chunky ankles you'll struggle to close the zip fully and the zip will creep down

    Kebab legs

  • Whilst in Barcelona I saw something that look like mountaineering spats that looked proper, cartainly better than all this neoprene shit. Worth a look in Millets/Blacks etc.

  • Endura make something similar - more like gators, they come up to mid calf with a zip up the back and a velcro strap under your shoe.

  • Fabric horse also make something similar but (I think) from waxed canvass/cotton.

  • I wear Rab gaitors with my MW80's- look like a massive dork, but I have dry feet.

  • Going to get these later

I was going to go for these also, but now they are out of stock until end of the month. I wasn't willing to freeze another Sunday morning, so instead of waiting I bought these instead:

A bit more than I wanted to pay, but going by the reviews on the competition they seemed a safe bet. They certainly work, feet are toasty and dry.

An absolute cunt to get on and off though.

  • That might explain why I haven't received them yet.

  • when it pissed it down i tried the Planet X Neoprene Overshoes.
my opinion is they are great at £10; compact and perfect for me. you do end up with the top of your socks wet (i wear them over trainers). annoyingly i lost a photo i took.

  • where did u get it for 10 pounds?

  • planet-x-bikes website, £12.49

  • they are 15 pounds noww:(

Extreme weather my actual arse. 30 minutes pootle in drizzle and the front of my instep is wet which means my sock are wet.The top bit didn't let water in but the neoprene did.

I'm sending them to Mr Wiggle with dog shit and letter written in cat piss

  • That.
And they're fucking difficult to do up.

  • I always thought that was a given with overshoes but yes they were a bastard to get on.

  • Can you tumbledry neoprene as the things are still wet, in fact they are wetter than before!

  • Radiator?

  • Washing line?

  • Hang them on a string that's tied around your waist?
    and then pedal fast?

  • Hair dryer?

  • Talk to them?

  • Put them somewhere warm so that the water can evaporate?
