  • They're the frame people should have been buying whilst they lusted after 'tight-geo' tark frames, Leaders and Bianchi Pista Concepts.

They're kind of like a Plug but not rubbish.

    :)

  • Anyone got one for sale...

  • I fitted some drops today, seem nice so far but will take some getting used to. I also finally got round to touching up some of the chips, my skills were average at best.

  • I wish the shop hadn't cut the steerer down on the fork so much.. irritating. It would be perfect for drops if I could get a couple of spacers on it.

Maybe I'll treat it to a carbon fork at some point.

  • ^^ negged* for instagram effects. Poor show.

Haha, I know. Must do better next time!

Had Carbon forks on mine. Worked well.

  • If I can get some cheap ones I'd be up for it. Would prefer drops to risers.

  • Banged bar position and got the beater back on the road. Not ridden it since the cranks broke a few months ago.

Changed the bars from these ones

    Now looks like this -

I might clean it soon. The rims scare me though

I would eer on the side of caution, not that the cheapo carbon break, but they have noticeably more flex than a decent carbon fork (I'm talking full carbon here).

  • the last piece of a puzzle came to day

  • Is anyone still making a proper shoeplate/cleat for modern shoes?

Yes. Yoshida, fits the rear two holes of a normal 3-hole shoe.

  • Good info. tester - thanks for that - don't suppose you know if anyone stocks them in the UK? (couldn't see anything on Hubjub)

  • Ask hubjub, I think they've had them in the past so can probably get some for you if you don't mind waiting.

  • Will at Hubjub is winding things down and closing shop. He may point you in the right direction though.

  • I need to replace the rear wheel on my road bike as the rim has worn down. I am considering going with a wider rim as everyone seems to be recommending it these days for better tyre behavior/handling etc..

I have a stack of 25c tyres so am not going any wider, but what rims could I use with them to get a benefit in performance? The worn out rim is a CXP22.

  • Why not just replace the rim?

  • Any 23mm wide rim, e.g. Mavic A719, Salsa Delgado X, Halo Aerowarrior, Velocity A23

  • Why not just replace the rim?

I might do if the same length spokes would work, but they probably wont.

  • CXP22 erd = 597mm
    A719 erd = 600mm

Might work as a straight swap, maybe with 2mm longer nipples.

    Velocity Dyad erd = 598mm

definitely a drop in replacement for your CXP22, and it's 24mm wide, which will be even better if you're only ever going to use 25c tyres

Not as sexy as tester's but there are lots of stock at sjs cycles just put "shoe plates" in the search.

Saw some fleabay NOS SIDIs but held back thinking how theyd look off the bike...little bit dutch cloggish on the profile :(

shame there isn't a better alternative with all the classic track pedals on the market.

  • at sjs cycles just put "shoe plates" in the search

Nothing there for modern shoes. You can't really nail your shoe plates to carbon soles.

  • shame there isn't a better alternative with all the classic track pedals on the market.

There is a better alternative; clipless.

  • not for the classic pedals though... sometime i hate the 2 bikes or spare shoes in a back pack at the weekend.

  • the last piece of a puzzle came to day

    woo-hoo!

are you going to break out the fancy paint to fill in the panto's?
