Sold a bag on ebay and the buyer didn't pay - initially gave lame excuses about being busy, and being terribly sorry, and then nothing. So I went through the resolution center, tried contacting him etc, but still nothing. The fees have now been refunded, but the buyer hasn't had the unpaid item marked against his account. So I've just had a load of ball ache and the 'buyer's' account still shows him as having a 100% perfect record. I'm aggrieved. What can I do?
Ebay say that basically buyers can renegade on purchases and there is no sanction:
Hello David,
Thank you for your email. I understand your concern regarding member's 100% feedback when they have received an unpaid strike.
David, it is unfortunate but true that unpaid strike in itself does not result into negative feedback for the member.
Moreover, as a policy, buyer can never receive negative or neutral feedback from the seller. If this member has 100% feedback then his record as a seller has to be impeccable. However, in no way he can be glorified how he is as a buyer.
But do not get disheartened, our User Agreement clearly defines the expectations we have of our members. All our members should be aware that they're obliged to purchase if they're the winning bidder in an auction or they choose to Buy It Now.
While we feel it would be rather extreme to suspend a member for backing out of one purchase, if a member receives more than one unpaid item strike we'll review their account and take any appropriate action (e.g. a warning or suspension).
As it's important that eBay maintains member privacy, we can't share details of any action we take against this member. However, please rest assured that we're committed to keeping eBay a fun, safe place to buy and sell by ensuring that both buyers and sellers comply with our rules.
Thank you for your expressing your concern to us. I wish you luck buying and selling on eBay in the future.Kind Regards,
Steve Allen

Check out this fella based in London with an array of Brooks for sale.
I've recently had one stolen, it's not amongst these, but thought it might be of use if anyone else is in a similar boat.
Apologies if this is one of you lot selling your Brooks hoard.

It looks like a private eBay account that seems to be now selling exclusively only Brooks saddles. Not much feedback to be a dealer (although dealers have to start somewhere I guess).
Not sure anything can be done about this account but I'm pretty sure it's well dodgy too...

Perhaps everyone should contact the seller asking to pick up as he is based in London. Nuisance value if nothing else.

I started the ball rolling:
"As you are based in London - is it possible to pick up saddle to avoid postage costs and find out where the saddles came from."

This seller has a number of ebay accounts selling brooks saddles:
tolpuddle-corner
coca-cola99
muddy-tree
pigs-wantedDraw your own collisons

Yes, I've noticed 'pigs-wanted' has had a constant stream of brooks over the last few weeks and thought it was a little dodgy, it may not be of course, but I doubt it...

some great usernames there

There's a police station on the corner of Tolpuddle Street, and pigs-wanted could be police related too.
So my conclusion is that every time they nick someone that is reported on Ebay, they confiscate the saddles, and sell them for the doughnut fund.

This was reply:

I asked: "Can you prove you legally own these saddles as I'd not like to handle stolen goods. Thanks!"

Do sellers always tell the truth on ebay?
This bike is being listed as having covered just 100 dry miles so what's with the state of the handle bar tape!!??

"Do sellers always tell the truth on ebay?"
AHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAHAHAHAAAAA
-
• #343
Could just be a tyre scuffer. My bar tape gets pretty dirty from that.
-
• #344
I've got cleaner bar tape that's done 4,000 miles!
-
• #345
I've got cleaner bartape than that that's done 10,000 miles.
It just depends how recently I've bothered to clean it. -

He's back with another bunch. Nearly bid before I remembered this thread.
-
• #347
Damn. That is actually my brothers Brooks B17 narrow. Had it nicked in Dalston last week. Anyone know what should de done or if anything can anything be done?
-
• #348
Is there anything that distinguishes it as your brothers, or any proof? Telling the police would be a good start, there was another thread on here somewhere from where a load got seized in Stoke Newington.
I think another technique was putting a stupidly high bid in for whichever you can identify as yours so no-one else ends up with it.

I buy around 50 bikes per year, and only get around 5 or 6 good leather saddles per year, which I tend to keep rather than put on ebay. (warning - the ones I put on ebay are the ones my bum doesnt like)
For a seller to have 10+ means I expect them to be stolen as I cant see any other way to aquire that many leather saddles that you would be willing to sell for under 50

While the cops might not be able to do anything straight away, always think it's good to send them any stuff for their intelligence. Often helps them plan what operations to do and helps with building cases in case anybody is ever nicked.
