  • Great - thanks for the help. Supposedly the Model B's have been discontinued and the only remaining set are white rims with silver spokes so it looks like I'm going for the AL30's.

  • +1 for model Bs. Got about 5,000 miles on mine with no issues whatsoever. Can't imagine you can do much better for the money.

  • +1 for model Bs - 8,000 miles and still true, can't argue with that

  • has anyone used the On one carbon 26er forks? im thinking of putting some on my inbred but am concerned about using carbon on trails.

  • They're good forks. I had to use the 29" ones to make up for the difference in front end height.

Very solid, and surprisingly flexy. Very nippy down hill, and you'll be thankfull on the long uphills! You'll need an adapter if you've got IS disc brakes though.

  • Got the AL30's through yesterday and in case anyone's wondering they will take an 8 speed cassette with some persuasion. So far so good - super stiff and light weight. Will report back after this weekend's ride.

They're indentical to the exotic, superstar, whyte, pace and PRO carbon rigid forks so I'd look up reviews for those. Personally though I'd go for the Exotic forks with a carbon steerer , £125 on their site

  • I have had the superstar carbon 29er forks for some time now. I ridden them on some rough trails, crashed them, and done a few dodgy drop-offs with them. They are still alive, as am I. They track nicely, and absorb a surprising amount of trail chatter.

Unless On-One have ditched their own design recently I don't think this is right.

I own some Exotics and they look to be exactly the same as White Brothers and Superstar. On One forks have larger diameter tubes, and are a fair bit stiffer.

They're built for to take a thrashing.

  • shimano Di2 groupset going for £1399 plus extra £200 off for a limited period, use code UKDI2OFF200

    wow..

  • It's not that great a deal - it's the internal routed version, compact chainset and is £100 less than you can get it elsewhere. Plus it includes the fugly Shimano cranks.

  • Shedfire has pics of the coming On-one fat wheelset, and a fat tyre design carving. Looks like they will be offered as a complete fat bike, with a 1x10 drive chain.

    Want the tyres.

  • They are doing Turbo saddles for 30 quid at the minute

  • Those cranks are very nice for a very modern frame or a ti thing.
    Pity SRAM cranks looks shit.

  • Does anyone know why On One's website only has 2 complete MTB bikes for sale at the moment? Tried looking in their news section but no luck. I know they chop and change their range a lot, but just having 2 carbon mtbs for sale seems a bit strange.

  • Does anyone know what these cranks are copys of/based on?

I need to get a new non-driveside crank bolt

Think they are slowly starting to bring in their new frames for this year, its been like that for a couple of months now.

  • anyone got any opinions on the old-style PX Pro 50 tubs?

they say suggest rider limit of 90kg which i'm slightly over. Called them and they said i'll be fine, took them out for a ride on the brand-fcking-spankingly-smooth new road surface in Battersea park and all of a sudden the front has gone out of true (i addition to the rear which was slightly out to start).

Internal nipples = f*cking wretched refit and glue of tubs ragh.

anyway, who's been riding these? what pressures you at? any creaks/groans i should be aware of?

  • There are a couple of large units who ride the track versions at Herne Hill race league... They seem to get on ok.

  • Can anyone get onto the Planet X website or is it just me? seems to have been down for days.

  • It's been up and down like a tarts knickers last couple of times a mailshot has gone out. Seems fine at the moment.

interesting post from dave @ px/oo in response to criticism of the brand(s)

Planet X/On-One have bought San Marino bike-builder SAB. To me it look worth keeping an eye on what they are going to unearth in the warehouse full of frames and bits going back 2 decades, like this:

  • I noticed that as well on their mailout. Should be interesting :D

This looks like a cracking deal. Frame maybe a tad dated but good groupset.
