  • see you tomorrow

  • Dammit, damn you chater-lea!

  • yay finally gotten a ticket
any one heading down for the friday night activites ?
is there a meet in a pub near by or is there a bar in the velodrome ?
    so pleased

should i bring my bike in case the mens pursuit team are a man short ?

  • Excited about tonight now...

  • You get bussed in I think so the 'nearby' pub won't be that close. #fail

  • tramps beers on the home straight ? sitting on the track ?

  • Seriously though, does anyone know much about the catering/bar facilities on site? This is very definitely a "test" event and I think that probably goes for all of the service facilities as well. I bet they're not serving any proper ale!

  • i would like to test about 10 pints of their WifeBeater tomorrow night for strictly scientific reasons
make sure it measures up to exacting standards i expect from the London 2012 Olympics

  • I'm looking forward to tonight's session - I reckon the security checks might take a while - And the Bus thing could be a logistical nightmare (I'm guessing they are using buses as most the site is still off limits?)

I'm sat in block 118 which is near the center of the banking. I've packed my DSLR, a fisheye and long lens, along with a "reasonable" packed lunch ( I decided to leave the ceremonial dagger and over sized hat at home) So I hope they all make it past security OK.

  • I went to the BMX/Supercross test event.
They had loads of catering vans just outside the velodrome for your drinking/eating needs.

I just got a ticket for Saturday :)

Yes - I think that's the reason for bussing across the site. It's not a very big capacity at the velodrome and it's the only event on so hopefully the security won't be too bad.
Getting back out might not be great though, with 6000 people queuing for a couple of shuttle buses.

  • From the LO COG list of restricted items...... http://www.londonpreparesseries.com/trackcycling/spectator-info/index.html

'Restricted items – these items are permitted within the venue but will be restricted in use
    • Large flags and banners (over approx. 1m x 2m), flag poles and oversized hats
    • Hunting horns, air horns, rattles, klaxons, drums, vuvuzelas and whistles
    • Any objects or clothing bearing political statements or commercial identification intended for ‘ambush marketing’
    • Balls, rackets, frisbees or similar objects, large quantities of coins and spray paint
    • Unreasonable quantities of food (that is beyond the equivalent of a small packed lunch)
Prohibited items – these items are banned from our venues
    • Explosive devices and explosive materials
    • Incendiary devices
    • Firearms or any device suspected to be a firearm
    • Ammunition
    • Items which have the appearance of a prohibited item (for example replica firearm, hoax improvised explosive devices, white powders), whether capable of causing actual harm or not
    • Substances banned under the Misuse of Drugs Act'

Damn!!! - Was planning to go in an oversized hat, with a huge flag saying 'Come on Sir Chris', a hunting horn, frisbee, CND t-shirt, Improvised explosive device (just a small one), a bag full of white powder, a spliff.... oh, and an unreasonably sized packed lunch.

    Will obviously have to re-think!!!

p.s. bicycles are also on the excluded list!!!

  • p.p.s. big thanks to One Less Cardigan for the ticket!

  • darn, no vuvuzelas or frisbees, what are we supposed to do for 4 hours ?

  • Are there still any tickets going?

I hope booze will be available - though god knows what foul brew is a 'partner' for the games.

    off to google...

  • hmmm. Heineken.

  • Mr Mac helpfully posted this on the Grumpy forum - some good advice:

*1. Leave plenty of time to get there, it's a 10 min walk from Stratford tube to the entrance and I guess it will be a hassle to get through as it will be airport type security.you then will need to catch a bus to the velodrome and that takes approx 15 mins and I expect there will be a queue to even get on a bus.

2.there is no hot food in the velodrome or even near by. There are sandwiches and drinks (coca cola !) inside but not a lot.you can take a packed lunch and a drink but security will be tight as per what it will be at the Olympics.

3.its hot inside . You won't be wearing a coat inside but I couldn't see a cloakroom anywhere to leave one.

4,there is no cash point so get cash at Westfield .

    1. If you have tickets to both sessions on 1 day , there is a break and you will have to leave the velodrome.i am not sure where you are supposed to go but will try and find out.

6.there aren't many toilets in the seating area. I did though get to use the "sir Chris hoy" toilet though today!

7.the track looks amazing and I thought most of the seats also give a great view.*

  • It was worth an ask.

I'm in 119, which is supposedly right next to you. I'll have a similar lens collection. I have a big moustache if you fancy saying hi/sharing a beer (if there is any).

You can expect an anti terrorist task force unit kicking in your front door right .. about.. now.

I'll look out for you. I've got visions of getting some great shots (I'll probably end up with a load of rubbish, blurry and/or out of focus ones though)
