I've got Rival on my winter bike and Force on my shiny bike and there is definitely a difference in the shifting.

I didn't know that Sram had a rep for being fiddly- seemed the same level of fiddle as Shimano and Campag to me.
same. The hardest part I found was getting the gear cables through the damn barrel in the levers.

I think it looks quite interesting- the one thing that I really like about Fenella's Campag stuff is the degree to which you can fine tune the front mech trim- mainly because I find the Sram "3 and your out" trim stops to be a bit inadequate when it comes to it.
So being able to bin all trimming due to a clever new design is impressive- if it works of course.

if it's angled doesn't it just risk constant chain rub?

They could've made a decent front der. in the first place. Going weightweenie over function in the mainstream is fail.

Velonews say shifting is now better (front and rear) than DA 7900.

Just got some of the 2012 6700G (glossy grey) brake callipers. Basically it's black Ultegra = awesome.

Last time I rode my dads ike it had a mirage/veloce mix (since been upgraded to full veloce) and compared to my 105 set (with FSA omega crank and tektro brakes)
His has a very positive down shift goes with a proper clunk thanks to the thumb shift but up shifting more than 1 at a time doesn't feel as smooth. I find downshifting easier in a sprint with the thumb shifter, although this could be cos his bikesba fair bit shorter so is easier anyway???
Campag looks sooooooo sexy but unless the bike was Italian I'd probably go shimano, for some reason I've become obsessed with there stuff, even considering getting there dx pedals for when I ride in flats hahahaha
Anyone know where I can get last years 5600??? 105 brakes? Can only found the new ones. By accident I got the new 105 pedals and don't like how 105 is wrote as much, mainly as it doesn't match.
Are 2nd hand chainrings a stupid idea, really want a 56t dura ace one but can't afford the £150 for a new one I saw them priced at?

I read on the internet once that a man can bend spoons using the power of his mind.
We'll see.

I don't know their repuation- are Velonews typically given to hysterical flights of fancy when reviewing new gear?

Their motto is "hysterio flitus fanico". I'll let you decide.

Ordered from the Powercordz site in the US- £48 including shipping, lets see if I get customs on top- that would bring the total to £60.
Setting up EE Cycleworks brakes with Alligator iLinks and Powercordz- what could possibly go wrong?
You need to tie a knot around the pinch bolt, while not allowing slack in the cable. If you clamp the brakes to the rim, and have your aduster all the way in before you start. You'll have a lot more to work with. It actually was'nt that bad, once I figured this out. The gear cables are installed as with wire. But clamping crushes the outer coating, so only really clamp down, when things are pretty dialed in.

I have short stumpy fingers, and find Campag stuff the easiest to use from the drops. 2010 SR, together with the clever shaped Easton compact bars, is so comfy. Everything just feels at hand, when you want it, whichever position you're riding in. I only notice how great a set-up it is, when I grab at bikes in shops. I just cant actuate anything without overly stretching and twisting.

The big question here, is how long has Anthony Hopkins been working for Sram?

brakes look nice - but other than that I think it's a step backwards aesthetically. The current Red is a really attractive group (especially in black), I've always been a fan of SRAM's understated lever graphics. The new one just looks like mtb stuff.
I couldn't give a toss about the functionality! ;)

Loving that the new red I s announced now. Old red is going for a song on the flea. Crankset for £80 yesterday... If anyone wants to sell me some shifters :)

New Red is apparently partly based on the XX groupset

I'd recommend an upgrade to full 5700 - I had 5600 and 5700 feels like an improvement and tidies your handlebars a bit. FD shifting is brilliant, RD is less mushy than 5600 but not quite as good as Apex.

I recently bought the 10speed 0X rear mech. Very nice indeed.

If the new Red FD is so good, why integrate a catcher? Esp. if you're going for the lightest group.
I used to hate Sram, actually had a go on it and now all my road bikes have it. The last Shimano group I had (105) was alright but I had problems with the shifters not fitting my hands and the shifting wasn't as definite as Sram or Campag.
