I just went with the cheapest option from US Ebay. But thats often the best way for me to source parts, as I almost always need to pay international shipping anyway. CW had ads for them in the issues I bought over crimbo. So I assume they're better availible in the UK now.
Ordered from the Powercordz site in the US- £48 including shipping, lets see if I get customs on top- that would bring the total to £60.
Setting up EE Cycleworks brakes with Alligator iLinks and Powercordz- what could possibly go wrong?

I've managed to get my hands on a "nearly new" SRAM Force 2011 groupset at a v reasonable price off t'bay. Given (a) everything I've read about SRAM being fiddly awkward to set up, (b) the fact that I don't have the right tools (for BB, cassette, etc) and (c) I've never set up STI/ergo shifters from scratch (it's a steel frame, down tube conversion job), would it be at all wussy to pay for my LBS to do it all for me? I've been quoted £70 for complete bike build down to the bar tape. Is this reasonable? I don't mind spoiling myself since it'll be my special shiny Sunday-best which will be treated very well once it's set up and will only ever see bone-dry roads, so maintenance should hopefully be minimal.

Pay them, otherwise the stress will take years off your lifespan.

6700 is 90% of DA performance/weight for 50% price. Wheels are the same; add a bit of unobtanium to the hubs and the exact same rims and spokes double in price from RS80 to DA CL wheels.
I set it up at home in about two hours using nothing but Shimano PDFs and photos I took of the fiddly internal cable routing on a Cervelo S2 at last years Bike Show.

I didn't know that Sram had a rep for being fiddly- seemed the same level of fiddle as Shimano and Campag to me.

Fuck all this bullshit, no-ones yet mentioned that SRAM will have hydraulic discs as part of Red by the autumn.
I, for one, welcome our new hydraulic masters.

I'm holding off on the Hope V-Twin until some more news comes out on that one.

This is cheap for a build. Very cheap.

thanks Steve, much sense spoken here. I have admired your crabbon wheels too (and the noise they make)

Just what I'm told.

That's cos you like cross, Andy ;)
Disc breaks will mean new frame/wheels etc etc.. fuck that. -

Did you get a bump to the head when your lever broke, Dan?
A cyclist who doesn't want a new frame, are you a fraud?

yeah if it's free!

Have we seen the RRP on EPS Super Record? £3.8k

Add the campag SRM cranks to that and it's over 7K

Cheers. I'm taking it along to Vaidas in Honor Oak, whom I've read good things about on here. It's also virtually the bike's spiritual home since we're talking about my Ron Cooper frame that was made about 50 yards across the road.

why would anyone want to be part of that double tap shit of shifting anyway!? Shimano FTW in ANY scenario.
Yeah I spoke to Corinne on Friday re: SRAM and she said it was an arse to set up, the front rign shifts were poor and that the cranksets were poor (less of an issue seeing as I won't need one).
For me (like you) weight is less of an issue, but for completely different reasons. In the last 1.5 years I've lost 3 stone, and have at least another 2.5 to shift still - I really don't think that 1-200g difference in a group is going to affect me at all when I can loose that in 2 weeks of eating well and riding hard.
Oh, and yes, I know you'll drop me (I have witnessed your back wheel disappearing before), even if I'm riding Di2 , but not as fast as you would have 6 months ago :D
I basically want something that will work, I can maintain and won't cost the earth to replace parts for - I think 6700 is winning in all of those departments atm
