  • some empty boxes by the till saying £10 each or 3 for £20. Guessing these used to be the home of the baselayers.

I believe these were t-shirts, acording to the Bikeradar thread

Personally, judging by the size of the queue today, I think Rapha should be limiting how much of each item one person is allowed to buy.

Would be nice but might be more hassle than its worth, from their point of view, as the aim is to sell EVERYTHING

  • .

  • Also, they can have a limit on the first day and lift it on the last couple of days. No one would mind that. Gives people who are looking for something in particular a chance to get it.

  • I think we should attack the people doing it. Make them fell guilty.
    Maybe.

One guy asked a member of staff if they were letting people get away with it again this year, he said the guy who's running it is right there inside and hasn't said anything.
Makes sense if they're trying to get rid of stuff, but it's a shame.

  • there will be no base layers at this sale....clearing the decks for the new range nothing more.

  • They are selling stuff. Why would they give a shit if someone buys the lot?

  • the sample sales are good PR for Rapha.. so if you have suggestions you should raise it with them. also the demand is global now, with huge interest in USA and Australia, so we should be grateful that they are local and friendly..

also i recently returned a fixed long sleeve merino jersey this week with a broken zip, i practically lived in it last year, yet expecting a free repair. its service like that i really appreciate :)

  • It wasnt quite as good as the last few years but i think the friends and family clear out most of the stuff of real value and good sizing...

I was first in the door this morning and thought there was some good stuff. odd sizes of bibs in seconds bin. nabbed some RCS branded ones but the rest were XS or XXL. The PS city rain jackets were xs so not much use to me but bought one for the GF.

lots of buying to sell in the first wave, which is hard to regulate and not too fair to the others queuing, but it will always happen...

  • If anyone has a merino, Belgian style hat that they want to pass my way or pick up for me, I would gladly pay........I hate lame people like me asking this sort of request, but I'm on duty this weekend and can't get away.......grey or black please!

  • Thanks to Rob who swapped Bomber jackets with me.

Now what do I do with the pink cap I ordered to get free postage...

  • Thanks to Garnett up there.

  • I got there at 11, looked at the queue and promptly turned around and went out riding on what has ben the most beautiful day of the year. Losers.

  • was that you on the benotto riding past the bagel shops?

  • was that you on the benotto riding past the bagel shops?

Ben didn't even stop for bagels?

  • Cheers Wicksie.

I'd heard the rumour that last year someone bought the bulk of the baselayers. When I got in today there were some empty boxes by the till saying £10 each or 3 for £20. Guessing these used to be the home of the baselayers.

It was for the essentials leather case. Been there yesterday there were no base layers at all. The prices went up roughly by 30%. So buying online with the additional 15% discount vouchers was pretty much the same but without the looong queue.

  • Noted. Will know better in the future.

  • was that you on the benotto riding past the bagel shops?

Yup. I did my best to look like a hipster lol

  • +1. Shout out to Leo.

A load of old toot really. A lot more damaged items, and seems a bit more expensive this year?
Not worth the queue imo, but that might have been because I already have most things... :-s

And and another shout out to Lola... ahem.

    Hi again!
I have to say I'm happy with what I bought for myself and Markypoos but I'm afraid the best stuff was gone with the first group... and people with suitcases (yes massive suitcases filled up with clothes, why are they allowed to do it?!) We were in the second lot! Leg, arm, knee warmers were only £10, caps and hats a bargain too! Longsleeves still quite expensive but more then 50% off the online price so not bad.
Not that much girls stuff, so I have a really happy man at home at the moment as most of the stuff I bought was for him. Anyway in the end I think it was worth queuing but for me it was only an hour, I feel sorry for the people at the end of the que (past the vibe bar) because frankly I don't think there was anything good left... so yes if I had to wait for longer and had less choice, I would be disappointed too but luckily I wasn't, so I'm happy with my shopping!

  • Pretty happy - got a cross jersey in Medium and a Long sleeve classic grey in Large, probably the only ones left in those sizes, hat for £10 and matching black mitts in XL for £40 rounded it off nicely, but not a major savingn off the standard sales in reality.

Not a lot of good stuff left...

  • Any xs sizes left its already all on ebay.

  • Thanks to Rob who swapped Bomber jackets with me.

Now what do I do with the pink cap I ordered to get free postage...

Thanks Dave, might have something else in Medium that doesn't quite fit after an early morning at the Sale....

  • Agree that it was a pretty poor show. Managed to get a few things and a freebie which was a nice touch (Musette in this year's l'etape du tour presentation sponsored by Rapha).

  • Are you saying the little leather beauty that I cherish was ten fucking quid??? Or 3 for fucking twenty???!!
I love mine, now it will feel a bit soiled

  • was that you on the benotto riding past the bagel shops?

    oh that benotto!

  • Didn't go. Then I saw that Outlier were doing their (rather nice) Bomber Jacket for half price tonight.

Saved money - spent money. All the same shit but I didn't get cold queuing.
