That should look nice, but the tank is too small. It is smaller than the seat, which is no way for a cafe racer to look.
Also to me Honda engines just don't look very nice. I think it's the gearbox casing. -

More like this?

Yeah, the tank needs to be bigger and the arse end of the seat needs to be smaller or at least faired (sp?).

nice little bio on the wrenchmonkees here:
http://vimeo.com/leviseurope/localscph
it's been done for the man but I think these little films everyone and their dog are making are good documents in their own right when they are done well. Anyway, it's got bikes in it so check it out.

I really liked that, but I'm biased.
Last year I found a cool bike that turned out to belong to an exmonkee. It's completely overtuned, but nice.
He told me that he missed his old wrenchmonkees bike so much that he's trying to turn this one into a worthy substitute.
I think this was the one:

^ thanks so much for this Scrapper. Picked one up from my local Peckham Lidl last night. Just what I needed to see the Katana through the winter and at a bloody bargain price! Car battery also died during the cold snap so no doubt it will come in handy for that too.

What would be a good bike for a trip into Europe? Budget around 1k preferably less. I was thinking an old GS850, shaft drive, solid, reliable, unlikely to attract attention and get nicked the only drawback being no fairing so rubbish wet weather and wind protection. What would you go for? Ta :)

Vfr 750.

An old GS850 is a good prospect, as would any budget 650 / 850 10 year old bike. **
B**ut for more laughs get something like an old 850 Guzzi T3, and stay off the main roads. The Guzzi is probably hard to find (but and old Spada might be findable) Everywhere you go you will meet people when you stop.
At least they did when I did this, never ever had to pay for accommodation, had a sleeping bag and a bivvy bag, but got put up in all sorts of places so rarely used them.
The bike is really is easy to keep going, none of the major items caused any trouble, all the niggles were relatively easy to fix. I did something similar on a Ducati too, met a lot of people, mostly garage people
I keep hankering after doing it again, happy days! -

I've had nothing but bad luck after I brought mine.
Got this and then lost my wallet somehow between Lidl and home , Got home to find someone had stolen the battery I got it for (left it in the front garden). -

Enormous thanks to 36*18 who just swung by my house and dropped off a huge armful of kit for me to borrow for my test. Thanks so much for that - I'll do my very best not to crash while wearing it. Think that I'll be safe/warm during five long days of riding now.
I also just realised that I'd left the beers I bought as a thank you on the kitchen table, sorry. Will drop them off when I bring the stuff back.

Also, BlueQuinn, thanks for the offer of a jacket - think I'll be OK now though. Same to Markyboy, sorry to mess you about, but I think I should be sorted.
Isn't LFGSS a friendly website? You're all welcome to come over and borrow my wife anytime you want...
