  • I also just bought a pair of black Victoire hubs (http://www.victoire-cycles.com/hubs/rear-hub.html) and Mavic Open Pro CD rims.. the big doubt I have is should I lace them up with black or silver spokes? what do you guys think?

    Silver. Every time.

  • @Agustin, sliver, no doubt.. Black spokes only look good on all black wheelbuilds IMO..

Thank you! I've made up my mind already, silver spokes it is!! ;)

  • Have finally got my Raleigh Twenty home.

    The forks...

....Where for that matter would you get a threaded 20" fork in this day and age?

    What would you guys do?

    Ebay: "1", 20" threaded forks" =

SJS used to have really cheap long stems, maybe ebay still has some. Otherwise what about a set of bmx high rise bars?

  • the lad's argos part-built, some good ebay bargains plus c_c's veloce 8sp groupset, i think it'll turn out alright:

  • looks like its going to be very nice

  • Like the look of the Argos too

  • Here is a mock up of my new Peugeot Ventoux frame, its going to be a SS/fixed commuter

But, rather annoying but, I was hoping to put 32c tyres and full mudguards, but doesn't seem likely...

  • Made a few aesthetic changes and lost a little bit of weight in the process.

    • Black Sram Red chainrings
    • Kalloy Uno Asa 105 stem
    • Tuned Sram Red rear mech
    • New chain and inner cables
    • Carbolift used to remove graphics on crankset, shifters, seatpost and rear mech

    It's now sitting at 5.665kg

  • That's pretty much bang on 1kg lighter than mine. Nice work.

  • And how is it for cyclocross? ;)

  • that looks evil.

  • By the way, does anybody have some black bullhorns kicking about? Want to see what it looks like. Happy to buy them off ya or swap for the flats and grips (plus a couple quid) on the build (above) currently.

  • I will be purchasing this frame soon and am planning on buying Ultegra Di2 piece by piece when I can afford it. Hopefully will be matching it to 3T bars/stem/forks and my Mavic Ksyrium SL wheels.

  • what happened to your other ebay carbon?

  • You go through so many bikes Sumo. Do you not think an electronic groupset is not a bit ott for a half mile commute?

  • Just build up a planet x sl carbon frameset. Got tiagra chainset and bb for £45 brand new, just need some better mechs as im running 2300s at the moment which are shite and heavy but ive ran out of money!

Plus ive got my winter wheels on at the moment, can't wait to get the summer set on in the next few months.

Your weight is still respectable given the aluminium frame, SRM cranks, 50mm rims and that brick of a stem. I think I've peaked though I can't think of any easy way to lose any more weight, I wish someone would have warned me how addictive this process would become.

And how is it for cyclocross? ;)

Based on the state of some of the country lanes round here it seems to be quite adequate!

    that looks evil.

    Thank you.

  • Just moved my whole polo position forward. Since shortening the chainstays I found that I don't need to be right at the front of the saddle rails with a 40mm to have control over the front wheel. Saddle rails centred on the clamp and an 80mm stem feels just right now. So much more control on the steering than when I had the 40mm stem.

Next thing to do with that bike will be some flat bars and for the stem to be flipped. I can then run a brake lever modified for dual and not a franken lever where I'm modifying it to work while clamped on the riser bend.

In other news, I've finally ordered the material I need to make my crank spiders.

  • ^^Dammit's bike is bigger as well, no?

  • Dose any one know of any solutions for my clearance for mudguard issue on the Peugeot above?

to have full mudguards and 32c tyres

  • smaller wheels.

  • that doesn't involve smaller tyres...

  • that doesn't involve smaller tyres...

    I said smaller wheels.

  • what happened to your other ebay carbon?
still got it. Still like it. It's not as stiff as I would like though. I also fancy getting something with a tapered head tube and BB30. Then thought I may as well go the whole hog and get an electronic groupset too.

That's what the Pinarello will be for.

speak to the mudguard master, lord scobleton

That's what the Pinarello will be for.

decided what you're building it up with yet?
