  • although I have been known to force 26.0 bars into 25.4 stems before with dieing.

  • I on the other hand have 2 experiences of this resulting in stem fail.

  • loser

  • infact I think my current bar-stem setup is 25.4 - 26.0

    mdcc's conditions of using a 25.4 bar in a 26.0 stem

and yeah I use an ITM De Lux so it's fine.

  • although he is talking about 25.4 bars in 26.0 stems.

  • Hmm.. I carefully went at the stem with a file to round of the sharp edges and corners and lubed the bars with water and soap, but although I could get about 1/3 of the clamping area into the stem, that's the furthest I could get it on..

Might have to find/fabricate a tool to gently tap it on iso twist and turn.

  • it doesn't work in a Pearl, or in a 3ttt podium... despite what planet x may tell you.

  • After selling my old Bosomworth pursuit I was stoked when this popped up. Got a few spare bits with it too!

    Sweet aero bars!

  • where exactly do these things "pop" up?

  • Starting a Planet X road project soon, very excited.

    Well jell.

  • After smashing my last bike/face, I have just taken delivery of a new frame (cheers PeterV!):

This will be my first 'project', built up with Shimano 600,I just need to sort a BB and a seatpost that fits.

Was thinking of getting it resprayed?
Would that be taking the piss? Perhaps I should just ride it and let the colour grow on me...

Built up one of the with a full 105 group recently as a birthday present for my dad he loves it! Good luck with the build! Oh and if you don't like the paint finish you could always take it back to the raw carbon/alu look? My dad and I shall be doing that with his some time in the near future!

  • Hmmm, wedge clamp on carbon. NOT a good idea. Puts too much stress on one small area, which being at the backside of the post, could lead to catastrophic failure.
You got any photos of the indent on the post?

    Here you go:

    show us your badger, then..

Looks like you could do with an inline post though

Got one from retro_di_corsa that does the job, both my bike have inlines now and the few mm's makes for a much better ride. Here's a slightly better photo:

The Bosomworth lo-pro is pretty special.

  • That's a pretty glorious looking machine

  • Well jell.

+1. The Bosomworth is the tits.

    { snigger }

Hot new wheelset there too. Is that Campag rear hub and Suzue front? Rigida rims? Radial rear? So many questions!

That's cool. I'm probably going to have to swap in some 105 brakes as my 600 ones are long-reach, and short-reach 600 ones seem to be commanding a premium on eBay.

I'm going to ride it as-is for a while. Besides if I recall correctly the alloy lugged areas don't look that great beneath the paint..

  • That's what I was thinking but I would like to think you would concede and visit an LBS before resorting to that!!

Especially when dealing with something that IMO is a lovely looking part.

if it's anything like the miche equivalent then the black ring can be (gently) prised up to reveal lock ring and top cap spanner flats

  • sumo, it's looking good!

They don't look too bad imho...

Ok, thats just scary, no carbon post for that bike!

  • where exactly do these things "pop" up?

my question exactly, but i think it's NZ?
