  • The long and fiddly to read aloud one.

  • The Artist - anyone?

Looks great, I'm gonna try and see it in the week ahead.

    Have these to watch tonight/tomorrow:
    3 Times

    and

    35 Shots of Rum

  • The Artist is incredible - go see!

  • just got back from seing 'The girl with the dragon tattoo'. Didn't have that high hopes tbh, but was still quite disappointed. It just went from one end to the other, no real excitement anywhere.

Style wise it was ok, some scenes were great, but nothing near as good as Se7en or Fight Club

Saw it at Screen on the Green which is great, they've done it up since I was there last time a few years ago. It's the only cinema i've been to with enough legroom

  • I thought it was rather good.

  • Just watched Page one inside the new york times. Great documentary, some cracking characters and very interesting on a range of subjects!

  • just watched 'real steel' or 'rocky robot wars' as it should have been called. story line is exactly what you suspect, sfx are ok i guess, didnt think much of the acting. 3/10

  • Saw a really good compilation of the 10 best robot-boxing movies from last year, real steel made the list, but only just - some tough competition.

  • Saw two films at the weekend, Snowtown and Troll Hunter

Both fantastic but in very different ways.

Snowtown is very grim. I guess a film about Astralia's worst (or best depending on how you 'score' them) serial killer isn't going to be a light romantic comedy but I didn't realise how horrible it would be. Great cast, brilliant cinematography but you'll need to watch a couple of episodes of the Mighty Boosh to cheer yourselves up afterwards.

Troll Hunter on the other hand, although tinged with some saddness is fantastic. It's about a troll hunter, as suggested by the title, and really made me smile. It shows how beautiful Norway is and makes me wish trolls weren't just on the internet.

  • watched The Yakuza
absolutely fantastic film. I am surprised I didn't hear anything about it earlier.
    great ending
    good score too

Yakuza is a classic! Ken Takakura hasn't done many english films, but the ones he is in do standout. Haven't watched 'Black Rain' in ages, but it is another one of my all time favourites.

+1. Looking forward to 'Troll Hunter' picking up the DVD this evening.

  • Watched Pierpoint last night. Great acting and quite sobering.

Boy in the Striped Pyjamas lined up for this evening. Perhaps need to choose something more uplifting to avoid depression.

  • Watched The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford last night, very excellent, especially Nick Cave doing his song at the end.

  • Yep ^

Never quite got around to watching this... on my lovefilm list it goes.

  • ^ i've seen the first half about 5 times now, for some reason I stop watching it, then start over again but don't want to skip the beginning with the amazing train scene

  • Apparently, in order to get into character for the film Taxi Driver, Robert De Niro obtained his own hack license and would pick-up/drive customers around in New York City.

  • You don't say

  • no i dont, hence why it was quote

  • Were you talking to him?
