Somewhere inbetween the two?

Fuck all that clever stuff. I just got back from Mission Impossible at the IMAX. A big fat fuck-yeah from CYOA.
Decent turn from Renner - not astonishing (intrigued to see how he pulls off proper lead role in the latest Bourne picture because that's what Paramount are clearly building him towards as they're lacking someone to plug the gap), Pegg actually pretty good by his standards, Patton fairly forgettable. Cruise however I thought was utter boss material. The guy's 50 but looked 30. He is such a pro. Outstanding action sequences, genuinely very good comic timing - just perfect popcorn fodder. Best of all was the full IMAX experience which I've never been to before (went to see a couple of films there but they were only 35mm so a bit of a damp squib by comparison) - the Dubai stuff was astonishing (we were in the second row at the front).
However what was far and away the most memorable part of the evening was watching the prologue to Dark Knight Rises. I knew it was on ahead of MI:GP but I thought only for a limited time so it was a complete shock when it came on screen.
It was simply put, the most audacious action sequence I've ever seen in my life. Absolutely mesmerising. Cannot. Fucking. Wait.

The Dark Knight is one of my favourite films, I expect no less from the new one.
first one was a bit pants though, just was too much like the old films imo

Batman Begins? Really? I really liked it. I'd like to see a bit more of how he came to be in the Chinese prison at the start. I like the idea of this incredible dangerous and angry person just sitting there biding his time, quite capable of leaving whenever he pleases, but - for his own reasons - he doesn't.

Will give it a miss then.Fuck all that clever stuff. I just got back from Mission Impossible at the IMAX. A big fat fuck-yeah from CYOA.
I really enjoyed it too, though I thought it dragged on a little. Was stunned by how youthful Cruise is! -
• #4871
Yeah perhaps a touch - particularly the last 5 minutes which I thought were wholly unnecessary. But I was still stunned that it was 9:15 when I got out and I went in at 6:30.
I'd give Tom Cruise a manly pat on the back.

i liked that, it was the villan bit that i didn't get on with. the whole gas bit, it was just too comic book. also that thing that called all the bats to him. when you compare how gritty and realistic the dark knight is the first one doesnt stand up.

but would you read his pamphlets?

I'd write them and believe what I was writing if he let me touch his mohair suit.
