One lever moved forward or back controls the two lower hill-climbing gears. When placed in neutral position, operating the second lever engages the level road gear.*
Still a valid concept today, to be fair. Simple but effective, and a great machine for chasing those high passes on on rough terrain. I rather fancy one!
