Here's that Lenovo: http://www.lenovo.com/products/us/tablet/ideapad/a1
I got the 16gb version for £136 inc ovenight delivery to Germany form "warehouse deals" here:
Lenovo A1 17,8 cm Tablet-PC schwarz: Amazon.de: Computer & Zubehör
Out of the box, it was in "as new" condition, still had the backing plastic on rear.....
First thing I noticed that much like my new android phone which also runs android 2.3.x wifi kept hanging up and reconnecting....a bit of googling and it was clear it's not that uncommon with this version of android....found a fix (use static ip and manually enter router settings into tab) and works fine, applied the same fix to my Huwaei Blaze, woked too so I now have a "mobile" skype phone...
Apart form that all is great with this, love it, battery life is good, screen colour and brightness good....have also set up a VPN and happily watched iplayer over here in Germany on it.....
two small things annoy me, I only have my Mum's Ipad to compare to...all apps auto-rotate, except the home/launcher....weird, also the screen swiping works great in all apps, except in the home / launcher...really needs a screen width swipe to get to next screen....fixed this by switching to Go Launcher....like the 7" screen format, means I can two thumb type whilst holding it instead of having to rest it on something...
Oh yes...had to find a hacked version of skype...official release had my outgoing video upside down!

Is it possible to install a new camera interface? I'm using cyanogenmod at the moment but don't like the camera at all.
I suppose I could try a new rom but camera controls don't seem to be a major concern

Loads of camera apps in the market, utfs.

I have about six installed and they either are slow with terrible layouts or are focused on adding some naff effect.
Moot point anyway, I changed to a rom called 'Simple and clean' which uses the stock interface but has slightly updated video. Highly recommended

T-Mobile gave me a Sensation, been using the Z in Oz... I will miss it, it's a fantastic handset...

Makes sense. Faster and a bigger screen; if you have SwiftKey you'll be quids in.

CES is underway from today, and early news is that Fujitsu is prepping a 13MP quad-core phone for a not too distant release.

Anybody know of a simple method for syncing iCal and Android?
Had a brief look, but my google-fu is weak today...
-
• #6594
You need to add a sync to the calender on the google account you use on your Android in iCal.

Still really happy with my Huawei Blaze, Skype works as good as normal calls, even to landlines and mobiles and battery life seems good....justy did a 2 hr ride running Strava and it used 11% of battery...granted with screen off though.

So my Transformer Prime isn't arriving tomorrow, despite the fact Asus said it was. What they neglected to mention is that the grey one is going out tomorrow, anyone who ordered the gold one has to wait another week. Funny that they never mentioned this when they made a big fuss about the Prime being out on the 12th and Ice Cream Sandwich being available for it by then (it came out the other day from what I can gather). In fact, they've still not mentioned it - eBuyer (who I pre-ordered from) told me, but it's definitely not just them - the grey ones are starting to ship out but no sign of the gold yet.
This is the least of my worries though - the metal rear case is causing some problems. It looks nice:
But the original spec for the Prime had a GPS listed, unfortunately it doesn't work well apparently, so Asus have now removed it from the spec. There is also a lot of speculation that it affects wi-fi, although a lot of people don't seem to be having problems with this. I don't care about the GPS, but this is a wi-fi only tablet - it needs wi-fi that works properly!
Asus denied that the metal case was the cause of the problem, but at CES they unveiled a new superior 'Transformer Prime 700', with a 1920 x 1200 HD screen and, wait for it, a redesigned back instead of the solid metal one to increase the signal gain:
This being launched despite the fact they haven't shipped out most of the current Primes yet. It's pretty much a textbook example of how not to launch a product and how not to treat your customers.
Personally I'm trying to decide whether to cancel my pre-order or not. I could accept the delivery and then test the wi-fi, thoroughly. I don't really want the hassle of doing that, but then most people who've got them so far seem to be happy with the wi-fi performance and Asus are insisting they will still be producing the original Prime and that the HD version is a 'prime' Prime...

Paul/Modaco guy tweeted exactly that a few days ago now.

What are they selling for on eBay- more than they cost new?
If so, accept delivery and then flog it if you don't like it.
Otherwise, I'd cancel it and get the "Prime Prime" instead.
