Can you plug a USB cable into a work PC and transfer the GPX file from the Garmin?
Yes provided it can be recognised without having to upload any additional software.

I think you have to download a plugin for your browser but apart from that no.
I know I had to for safari.

Bugger - no extras for fear the entire NHS spine is compromised. Gross disciplinary misconduct etc etc

Can't you wait till you get home then upload the route to and from work?

Otherwise the silver looks a bit shit. Might just go for black to be safe. Thought about setting the frame off with a bit of colour...Even on a ti frame though? Might look a bit too blingy.
Personally I really like silver hubs and silver spokes, as it looks classic without being antiquated/faux-vintage, and works with all colour schemes. Ideally as you're going for OP's I'd say get grey ones. Black hubs and silver spokes looks a bit shit imo. I always tend to go for silver spokes as I can't really stomach paying the mark up on black ones.
But tbh, it sounds like you want some colour, in which case go for it. It's always tempting to get caught up in the appearance of your bike during the planning stage of a build. It's understandable. But fundamentally, this bike probably won't be around forever. The wheels definitely won't so take a chance and go for something different* if that's what you want.
*[but obviously *never *miss-match the same colour ano]

maybe, i guess if you've got other anodised stuff on there then it might look a bit whack..
ti itself isn't that blingy i don't think, and the open pros (presume you're getting CD versions) are fairly understated.

There is an option to manually upload- where you navigate to the file and select it.
That may not need the plugin- I have a feeling that is only there to automate the "where is the file" process.
Worth trying, or just run Strava on your phone, and upload via 3G when you get to work.

I'm completely caught up in the planning stages.
Mavic OP CD version are grey and black so it would make sense to go for stainless spokes and silver hubs? The rims wouldn't be the right colour but I can't really do much about that.
Otherwise It's go for black spokes & hubs on the black/grey rims which sounds much better. But aren't anodized spokes not as strong?
-
• #22335
I've been told that my anodised spokes are stronger. Don't know who to believe but sapim say they're equally as strong.

R501s are nice, but I'd be surprised if they were actually an 'upgrade' from anything which is already circular, and while surprisingly robust they wouldn't be my first choice for a 14st commutenger. Get some handbuilt wheels, e.g. Rigida Grizzly + ACI spokes + whatever more or less equal sealed bearing hubs are on offer today.
Thanks a lot MDCC ("you must spread some rep etc etc").A friend of mine recently got his bike written off by a driver... He just needs to get a valuation of his bike over to the insurers, but at the minute is having difficulty.
I'd say get on eBay and use the "completed listings" option to get a good idea of the going rate for similar stuff in similar nick. That offers a sort of "arm's length" authority to the figures and will include a premium if and when a premium is payable for odd bits (as opposed to the lower value of a full bike)

I don't think insurers are interested in depreciation .
If I wrote off my heavily used 2009 FP2, they'd cover me for a brand new FP2...they wouldn't say they'll only give me £500 for a heavily used second hand one.

Wife, kids = maximise personal ('selfish') stuff at work.

Not sure how much is down to personal pref but for a long time I'd used Dura Ace pads then switched to Kool Stop. The difference was amazing. The performace of the Kool Stop ones shat on the Dura Ace - especially noticable in the wet.
I have other, non shimano brakes on my other bike and always felt the brakes were inferior. Soon as I switched to Kool Stop on them I no longer had any worries, a massive upgrade.
They last for what seems a very long time even the salmon ones which I believe are a softer compound.
that's great, since I posted 2 other people have mentioned the kool stop pads. Thanks a lot for taking the time to reply, cheers

But aren't anodized spokes not as strong?I've heard rumourz, which I thought came from Zipp. IMO fucking about with the colour of the spokes must have a detrimental effect... but, it's probably so small that it actually has no real life effect. The main drawback on a 32h+ build is the price.
Again imo, black hubs and spokes will look better on black OP's rather than grey ones. A friend has black hubs, spokes, and OP's, but with silver nipples. It looks good, because the nipples complement the silver machined sidewalls of the black OP's, and balance it out...
like this:
With your build looking a bit like this: http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a71/hubert_/bicycles/sevenopenpros.jpg
...altho as the looks starts to drift towards being slightly more modern I'd favour CXP33's for the slight aero look.
Hope that made your decision easier ;)
What about finding a bored student with photoshop skillz to make up multiple versions of your build?

Has anyne got any drawings for a low flange front hub, found some ti at work and hubs seem to be the most likely thing i'll make and use out of it??
Have you wondered why every hub manufacturer since the end of the last German unpleasantness has favoured aluminium for hub shells?

Mavic OP CD version are grey and black
No they aren't, they are a uniform grey all over. You might be thinking of the Ceramic ones.

No they wouldn't. That would entail wrangling and hassle. They'll stump up then get it back and more in the massive premium hike you'll have for the next 3-5 years.

There is a place by the nice coffee shop in Soho, corner of Bateman and Greek street.
Got a result in ^this^ place. Thanks!

So again, has anyone got any technical drawings for a low flange front hub? I haz spare ti, will maybe make spare for friendly supplier of drawings??

So again, this is a waste of material, since Ti is not the right choice for the application.
How much Ti, what grade?

Hi guys, looking at getting a new chainset with these cranks and this chainring. Neither come with bolts, so do I have to fork out £16 for these or will others fit?
Thanks.

does anyone know if there is bike parking on any platform at Tottenham Hale Rail Station?
According to TFL the is bike parking, but it doesn't specify if that's in or outside the station. I want to leave my non-descript bike there for four days with some amazing locks, anyone know if that would be ludicrous?
Can you plug a USB cable into a work PC and transfer the GPX file from the Garmin?
