my LBS furnishes me with spares when I round the heads because I'm reckless. Ask someone nicely? I've got a few spare too next time you're in town.

they are so the pads can only come out if i try and brake whilst going backwards but i just wanted to be on the safe side and double check

my super expensive, super comfortable assos bib shorts have worn so thin at the back that when i'm on my bike you can clearly see an inch of arse crack through what now looks like thin, ladies tights material.
it's not pleasant for anyone behind me but the shorts are my favorite and i can't afford to replace them -in every other respect they are still in perfect working order.any ideas how to fix them?
This has happend to three pairs of Assoss bibs/knickers now all around the top end of my crack.
My plan is to get my mum to sew a patch of lycra on top of it (from a cheap pair of shorts I bought). I've had the cheap pair for a year now and haven't taken them to my mum for sewing yet so ask again in 2013 or something.

interesting - i wonder if it is a particular weakness they have then.
i was thinking along the same lines re patching with a bit from cheap shorts -

Is there a compact handlebar made by cinelli for their quill stems (26.4 clamp), or is the giro d'italia the closest you'll get?
I'm after a modern compact bar shape (like Cinelli Lux/3t Ergosum) but for a traditional cinelli stem.
I thought compact bars and quill stems were from different eras but I've just discovered the ITM SUPER ITALIA PRO-260 handlebar which seems to be both. -

A quick response will be appreciated.
Here's a slow response, for the record. In the absence of any specific guidance from the frame and/or post manufacturer, minimum seatpost insertion below the top of the top tube* where it joins the set tube, should be the greater of 50mm or 25% of the total seat post length.
*In the case of mixte/ladies/dropped top tube lo-pro etc., use the top of the seatstay instead where that is higher than the top tube.

I know they are the target of anti-nodder ridicule, but does anybody know if the Hump rucksack covers actually a good or bad bit of kit? Seems like a decent way of adding waterproofness to a rucksack without having to buy a proper messenger bag, which are not cheap at all.

I think it's when I stop for lights and I lean back agains the end of my saddle - that's the place that normally goes. No hole as such but a window to my arse.
Doesn't do it on any other shorts.

should have listened to scoble - "don't lean"

i like the thrifty style, but that's surely not gonna keep the water from getting through into my laptop when it's raining hard though. does anybody dare own up to having a hump one? if so, how is it?

The carrier bag goes around the Laptop inside the normal looking rucksack. Making you look normal and not like some undertaking dayglo nodder.

What's going on with all this referring to oneself in the third person in the classifieds? So and so's something sale, blah blah's something giveaway.

I've got a really productive and persistant cough since I had a heavy cold for the last 6 days or so.
This cough is keeping me awake at night and it has got to the point that all the coughing has strained my stomach muscles and given me a sore throat!
Can anybody recommend a way for me to help my body expel what it is trying to expel? Do expectorants work? Maybe inhale steam?

Can anyone recommend an oven thermometer? It's one of those annoying things where all the reviews on amazon are mixed.
I just want something sub-£20 that tells the temperature accurately to within 10 degrees, and doesn't break.
Anyone have any suggestions?

Not sure about a cure but just to warn you I had something like this that went on for 6 weeks (!!!) last year. All good after it stopped but it fucked me right off (it was the sleep disruption that was the worst). I got a bit worried after 4 weeks (in my mind I had lung cancer or ebola or something) and went to the GP. They said there was a lot of it around and it was a virus. They gave me a choice of waiting it out or taking some antibiotics. I did the latter and it worked (or more likely was a coincidence).
Nothing else helped - I tried every over the counter cough remedy going. All of them crap. I'm healthy, exercise, eat well and tend not to get sick at all but this took ages to shake. Hope your version is less severe.
Oh and just as I was getting better my girlfriend got the same thing.
i just lost one of the little grub screws that holds in one of my brake block cartidges, i know its only minor but they're only there as a backup for the pad isn't it? I'm not going to suddenly find my brake doesn'y work right?
