The Richmond Park 3-Lap Challenge

  • Couldn't get enough signal out there to access forum on phone :(
Managed a 53:34, so 4 seconds off my best. Which shows consistency but was frustrating - definitely felt I had to work harder for it today. I managed a PB on my first lap (23mph avg, 17:32 or something) but it was unsustainable. I'd lost 30 seconds by the end of lap two and struggled to hold on to that for the final go.
Saw two fixie skidder types, one with bullhorns and a swirly tat on his right calf, the other on a black IRO who looked like he might be on here. Anyone?

Nice riding a bike that actually works for a change :)

  • .... who looked like he might be on here....

I wonder what physical attributes would suggest that a cyclist might be a contributor to this internet forum.

  • wearing all black, and the second he'd finished his laps he whipped out his phone and proceeded to stare at it for the next 15 minutes - less 'physical attributes' and more 'general air of an internet cyclist'

  • that bike is pretty, tom

  • i was about to wirte the above

  • The bikes worth at least six minutes and thirteen seconds. At least.

  • Based on personal experience, it's worth about .6mph overall, maybe 90 seconds? But last time I was out on the other road bike the wind was coming from a different direction from usual so not directly comparable. And a lot of it comes from the fact that this one doesn't skip gears and shifts when told to.
(last outing on normal road bike here)

  • I *was *joking. Good effort today. Sat in an office in envy, as I can almost see the park from here.

  • RP laps is serious business! but I had wondered how much the bike is actually worth in terms of seconds shaved, which you sort of hit on.

  • Jesus Christ.

  • Jesus Christ indeed...
It's Richmond Park, not the Tour De Fucking France.

  • :( I need something to do that isn't post on the internet or ride my bike.

  • Work?

  • yeah something like that.

I've thought about this before as I ride through or around Richmond Park everyday but have never been able to identify a forum member even though clearly lots of us do use it.

I've definitely never seen 6pt as one couldn't miss/forget that amazing bike.

Thought that must have been you as I believe you mentioned upthread you would be riding a Look. Very distinctive, nice. Didn't say anything, serious business an all. Also gone too bloody quick. I was all in black with the swirly tat.

Also saw a few other fixie skidder types, bloke walking towards and then waiting at Roehampton gate with messenger bag, another bloke with messenger bag and skidlid going clockwise and the third, also going clockwise, girl with big curly hair, drops and I think chrome vees. Could've just been the sun reflecting off them or third lap hallucinations.

Hai, if any of you are on here.
