Long sleeve merino baselayers, cycling specific, less than £35. Possible?
And I'm talking proper thick, standing round in the icy cold for ages, merino. -

This is a bargain btw

ada, try the brixton cycles bibs. they are awesomely comfortable! i think they have some kind of gel chamois or something. fairly longline shorts, i tend to pop a pair of knee warmers on if it gets chilly.

Bargain
Good, but short on the body -i have ordered one last year but had to return it because of that, so just be warned if you're tall. -

brixton cycles bibs? something with the huge logo running across the leg?
i know, i'm a bit fussy, but don't feel like i want to advertise anything unless someone will give me some freebiehow much are they anyway?
just found out that gore makes shorts and bibs in two lengths - standard around 8inch and "plus" version with longer inseam so i'll be hunting for those
also wanna try skins as they look quite long as well

Wicksie - I got some Icebreaker longsleeved merino baselayers for half price last week from tauntonleisure.com. They had 260 merino base layers for about £35 - and some 200 for £26. Also got a little reversible merino beanie for £9 that will fit under a helmet.
Admittedly it's not cycle specific and it's fine merino rather than uber-thick stuff but I wore my 200 one all week and was toasty. They are long enough on me not to ride up - I'm 5'3 and it comes down to cover the bum.

I think the BC bibs are slightly more discrete than most team kit, but I see what you mean. I'm probably biased anyway, I did marry into it...hahaha. I think they are about £80, which I thought was pretty reasonable for the quality. (I found them more comfy than Assos) Think they are made by Nalini, which I've seen on chain reaction, so maybe see if they make any designs you prefer,(or they come up in the sale!)

Icebreaker is pretty awesome. They have 320 weight and some jackets above 400-weight! But damn, one of those jerseys would be great for rides! Oh well, i've other options.

quantum hood bought from natureshop.co.uk - my favourite piece of clothing
really good quality merino in different thickness and a bit stretchy too (my endura top is too stiff for me)

This arrived super quick.
Bloody hell its thick compared to my howies merinos which got me through last winter. Have yet to wear it for this reason, but I reckon come Jan its going to be a favourite. Oh, and it doesn't seem too small down the back. I'll probably wear it over some bibs anyway, so no hay problema! -

This site is costing me money I don't have!!!
Wicksie/Kattiep, I've ordered one. Put a food parcel together for the end of November please :-).

Sonya, I suspect you have just bought the last blue S, removing temptation. Thanks!

Glad to help :-)

Just had an email to say my order is in the post! Seriously impressed!!!
29 October - collected package from the post office. Nice light blue colour and fits well. Will test it on my upcoming night ride.

Having worn my SWOBO top, but not on a night ride, I can confirm it's a good'un. Wore it over a merino baselayer on a commute which probably wasn't a good idea as I was roasting by the time I arrived at work. Next wear was a chilly morning last week, with arm warmers and a running vest. THAT was a much better combination.
Jayloo, it's now available in black.................. Will email the company in the link above to see if they will have any in red. My fave colour.

I'm rethinking the long armed jersey. I'll have to feel yours or maybe try it on. You still after the Pearl Izumi 3/4s I have?
-
• #395
Let me know when you are at Souths. I can easily pop by. Yes I'd like the Pearl if possible. Payday at month end though :-).
-
• #396
Sure, no probs. Then it will be next Monday we can meet at Souths. Though if you're popping by from home then my place is on the way.
-
• #397
^^ In the diary for next Monday. Payday is the following day but I might have some overdraft left!
Will swing by from work as it's on the way home, so will be there early with a book/newspaper/playing with phone from about 5.50-6pm.
Stif (SWOBO garment) can't get it in red so I'm having a quiet sulk whilst thankfully relieved otherwise my bank would have had words with me.
-
• #398
Haha! I didn't mean to go to Souths tonight so am probably not going to go next week. However. If you're there that early I can show up. : )

I want to get some cycling (running?) tights/leggings to ride in but as I've got short legs and a fat arse I really want to be able to try some on. Has anyone got any recommendations of either good brands to try and where to buy in Central-ish London?

Gore. They're brilliant.
Cycling ones will be padded, running ones won't; I tend to wear padded for anything longer than 20 miles or so.
Plus- always buy them at least one size too small so they're nice and snug and don't move around.
Tarck on Sat ms poots?
Yup, Sonya, you got it.
ada, 3/4 aren't usually that short? I can't remember what model they are, maybe sugar knickers? I like the super short sugar knickers but these just didn't work out for me.
